Sure, it's difficult sometimes but it is a lot easier than picking avacados in the hot sun ten hours a day, six days a week. And it is stressful but I can think of any number of jobs which are a whole lot more stressful. Hell, as some of you know I was a Marine Infantryman, a job which is both physically demanding and extremely stressful. It's not as intellectually challenging as medical school, naturally, but you don't have to hump a 120 pound combat load up and down mountains in medical school. All you have to do is sit in air-conditioned splendor studying with more vacation time than you will get for the rest of your life.

I think if some of our young friends who are matriculating this year approach medical school as a regular job in the professional world they will be a lot less stressed out.

As someone observed, you don't even have to show up (hardly) for first and second year. Make a schedule. Budget your time. Discipline yourself to spend only ten hours a day between lecture and study and you will be amazed at how pleasantly the time will pass.

Sleep. Exercise. Drink. Chase girls. You will have time for all these things with a little self-discipline and if you learn to study efficiently. (Efficient studying is a whole 'nother thread but involves things like avoiding study groups, using review books, turning off SDN, avoiding highlighting or any superfluous note-taking

Thank god for OMM or I would have been able to stay in my bed and not have to drive through the snow/ice/death storm that happened here recently. It was well worth the hour of cranial to drive all the way.............I love medical school.

So i guess you didn't get that memo that I actually am from Rice Lake, WI, which is about 13 miles from where the shootings took place, which is where most of the families of the murdered victims live, which is where the hospital (that both my parents work at) where the 3 found alive were taken, and where there is this big black cloud hovering over for the past month and a half ruining all holiday cheer. I thought you were just a smelly frenchy, but you are more of an ignorant hick from down south. Hope you feel good about your last comment now.

I know its not cancun (sorry no 18 year old dudes for you astro), but it could be fun if we got a small group of guys to go (who aren't married dartos and dmak) and live life to the fullest before boards and we all go our separate ways to never talk speak again. I wouldn't be against girls going as long as they understand they have to go to the "gentleman's" club with us and that every hour on the hour we will toast to the mighty hawks. GO HAWKS

I love gentlemans clubs, and when i go gambling i can typically pay for the hotel by playing blackjack, then go lose it all on craps. By the way, HAWKS SUCK! Actually I can't back that up, my team bit the big one this year. They started off so good, but then kyle orton flost his lucky pair of panties and kept getting sacked and fumbling, allowing the other team to run the eighty yard touchdown with one minute left in the game. The first years actually got different pda's than us and they got the year newer version of our gateway laptops. Our pda's are pocket pc's and they are the toshiba e750. We get new pda's before we go on rotations however.........

Like awesom-0 says.........no my new year resolution was to come to class. I made it to 4 on monday, 2 on tuesday, and then the last two days I've only gone to the mandatory classes (OMM, labs, etc).......so as long as it works for you don't feel guilty. I look at it this way........when I go and play on my computer I'm not paying attention anyways so I may as well sleep in till 10 or 11 get up go work out and then study in the afternoon/evening....I'm just more productive that way. Welcome to my world!

Allow me to correct you fockers:

1) my life size doll of captain Kirk is filled with nothing b/c i am the receiver. and don't go off and get all excited b/c that is the only time where i'm a receiver, normally i am the "field general" and do the gun slingin'

2) Club AM is a bar east of the river where you bring your own beer after 2am and drink it there while you watch ho's dance. it was boring, and i went there in a mere attempt to chase some girl's tail my cousin introduced me to. around 4am i could take no more and had to go home b/c i was too tired.

3) Go hawks and the French suck!
