If everyone got there dream residency where would you end up? Just trying to see what states/cities people are going to be around incase I ever decide to travel cross country.

San Diegle....and you can come visit if my dream comes true...

Rules: Your girlfriend can only wear her bikini in my place...and you have to have an identical bikini on at all times. 👍

Wha happened to Bethesda? Did the fantastic-ness of southern cali win you over?

Indianapolis or Utah, and you have to wear a bikini, but your gf can wear whatever she wants. GOOD LUCK PORTIER!

D, we can catch northerns up here until the water freezes, that's right I said we. Get up here, we will do the fish dance.

Dartos, what program are you going to be applying for in Utah? I'm in Utah and hope to stay here.
Hey, I bet Portier would be able to figure out who I am...he should at least remember my wife as he did spend some time in the bathroom stall with her during our 1st year wine and cheese party....thanks for keeping her company Portier! 😉

I'll be able to spot that a$$ anywhere. Nothing like walking into the head to take a wizz after a long night of wine and cheese and seeing a girl in a little black gucci dress, with black hose, and black shoes on her knees worshiping the porcelin goddess. I really had to pee, but I just left.

This story would be better if I peed around her puking....but I didn't.👎

I love Socal. I love love love love love it. 😍

I should have been raised here.

I love the weather, the food, the beach, the people...all of it. I can even homestead here. If I do any training at all here I can take operational tours at Camp Pendelton or any of the ships stationed out here...or the squadrons.

I understand Jane a lot better after being here in Cali for a month. There are so many different kinds of people (including more smoking Asian chicks than you can throw a stick at) and integrated cultures that my own upbringing feels like Deliverance now.

I even got to take my bro to a Filipino restaurant...complete with Filipino men doing karaoke....that's probably the best memory we'll ever have. Fish heads, lechon, pancit, lumpia, dinago-on, noodles, and the Phillipine version of Candle in the Wind.....👍

On call in the NICU tonight...WHO NEEDS SLEEP? Not this guy.

I'm applying to the psych program at U of U, My big sis is in her year of post-doc work for child psychology out there. It would be pretty fun to go into some sort of joint practice with her. Plus I am a ski fanatic and I love hiking and do a little mt. biking too so Utah looks pretty decent. Apparently they are even more hard up for adolescent psychiatrists than most states are. She said they only one in her area was recruited from the east coast, given a huge signing bonus and more patients than he could schedule.

Moabnut, are you a tall individual who has been witnessed swing dancing at DMU events (I like this game, it feels like I'm playing Geuss Who [are you wearing a hat?])?

He's not tall...not a swing dancer.

Dresses like a bandito ocassionally.

Perhaps another hint maybe?😕

I've considered setting up shop in southern cali if I ever get a residency spot and or graduate. I have no idea who this moabnut cat is, mostly because Bernard has spent time in the bathroom with everyone's wife at the Wine and Cheese.

Bernard my gf looks smoking hot in a bikini, and may actually be hotter than me in one. I am going to have a statue made of me I think in all my glory with built in chest hair and beer belly to put in my front yard when its all said and done. I'll send you pics from Europe.

It's weird all of us are getting so spread out now, but exciting to see what everyone is going to do with their lives. I'm on vacation this week and next week and thank god, because it feels like I haven't gotten up past 4:30am in like a year!👍

Someone is 4 posts away from 2000
Who?

I dunno where we're gonna end up. Maybe Wichita. Maybe Spokane. Maybe your mom's house. 😉

The man and I can finally make plans for a Milwaukee trip, as we both have interviews there now. Can't say that city's at the top of my list, but you never know. I like cheese enough.

I'm glad you like Cali, Portier. It's only the best state ever. Eat more sea creatures for me!

Woohoo! Interview invite #2! This one arrived at our house through a small portal by our driveway that my wife assures me is called "the mailbox" I had heard of this device being used in the past but was unaware it was still in use.
Anyway the residency is in S. carolina, where the wife and I would DEFINITELY like to end up. Very cool. I agree with the master of cream, it is weird how spread out we are all getting🙁 Oh well, I think we should all take turns hosting a yearly party at our cool locations (I think it goes without saying we all want to hit up witchita first)

I agree.

In fact, send Natz out the week before so she and I can cruise in my (use the bob barker announcer voice) NEW CAR:

212X.jpg

It's not actually mine yet....but I was drooling over it Friday night. I'm totally gonna' get one.

Of course I'll have ot get magnetic decals to make it look like Tracks...one of the coolest Autobots ever!

I think the flight mod kit for the 73 corvette is kind of expensive, but wht a cool way to ride.

If you buy that car it is a pre-requiste to take all the sleeves off of your shirts and they must all have 1980's rock band names on them like REO Speedwagon and Journey.

I still haven't seen too many invites yet, but I put my permanent address as m parents in IOWA, so who knows maybe they are burning them as they are sent there.

It'll be like Billy Madison...except we'll actually be cool.

I was looking at Trans Am's last night when I was finding these pics. OMG those 80's cars are the shizzle.

I interviewed for Transitional today at Balboa...there are 27 spots here and candidates for evey spot that rank it #1. It's the toughest in the Navy to get. He was like, "You're a great candidate, except that you're ranking Peds first, you know?" It's a backup anyway.

Three words: I love radiology 😀

And Portier, you totally have to get that car!! What an awesome idear.

OMG, there's this blonde, hot, rad tech you'd totally dig here. And she "dances" on the side. Very nice and knowledgeable too. I'd have to stand in a puddle of your drool though, if you were here.

Hi guys (and ladies)...

ESPN Gameday will be in iowa city saturday night for the iowa vs ohio state game. I have little hope that iowa will win this game, but i cannot wait to watch Gameday on saturday as it will be in iowa city for the first time in a long time, and everyone is predicting a near-riot in the city for this game. I suggest you watch it so you can see the younger, smarter versions of me in my day.

I'm jealous of anyone who gets to be there. I have been a devoted hawk fan since day one, and i never got to experience such a huge game in iowa city. Cheers to all, and let's raise our glasses to the sound of "In heaven there is no beer" ONE MORE TIME!!!

I 2nd astro's comment. This is a huge game for Iowa. I will however be overseas in Europe on cruise ship enjoying non-medical activities. I am going to ask someone to tape it I think and mail it to me! GO HAWKS

Astro I have that OMM book if you want to borrow it before you leave the state. Just let me know.

Portier, sweet car, the biatch would totally tap that ass if you drove her round town in that. That car looks like a huge metal wang. I'm not into cars and even I think it looks sweet. 3 interviews! I am ready for this path rotation to be done. I can only rock the mic for so long, ya know?

I think what I like best is it's total disregard for passenger space. I mean it's 3/4 engine compartment. It's like sitting in a glove, too....a low, tight, rumbly one.

MAN!

Congrats on interviews, guys!

Jane, I can't date a rad tech stripper....I would never finish a residency....

Jane, I can't date a rad tech stripper....I would never finish a residency....

That's what Jane said and look where she's at now......that's right. Dating a rad techno stripper in med school...wha? OK...I seriously have 23 interview offers. FP rulez......that's right....with a z. I might start scheduling some of the major cities and wait patiently for the woman's programs to offer invites. I did get a interview rejection out in Washington state.....boo to you guys.

A program in Wichita thought I was a foreign medical graduate.....I'm not sure if it was my name or the fact that when I called them I used my Borat voice.

Speaking of Sparks the autobot, Transformers the Movie is going to be the greatest movie of all time. It's going to kill Titanic......unless Titanic comes out with a sequel where the Titanic itself is a Transformer.....than THAT would be the greatest movie of all time.

Das right, you betta rekonize!

oh my god i just remembered why i fell in love with you 😍

oh my god i just remembered why i fell in love with you 😍

You guys get my vote for weirdest couple, ever. I love you two. Dmak, you may crack the record for highest # of interviews for all time, except of course for A.T. Still.
Moving to Indy in 2 days! D, i'm not bringing the boat to indy after all, too much work.
Highlight of Ericas wedding, probably that poor girl who sat at the table full of DMU's finest, especially when she was propositioned for a 3some, by every couple at the table.

It might be worth a trip to wherever you are to go see the movie with you guys!

HA.....I felt kind of bad for her....just sitting there, stifling any urge to cry/run. The Mrs may be getting her USMLE 2 scores soon. We did a price is right style of betting on her score.....loser buys dinner. I wanted to bid one dollar bob but that would look bad......damn you bob barker and the $1 bid.

I was so hoping she would've just said yes. What ever happened to being spontaneous??

No scores yet. Taking the COMLEX 10/11. I don't even want to imagine my score on that one. My prediction: USMLE 2 + COMLEX 2 < COMLEX 1.

1) Mr Cremaster - don't need the OMM book. i really don't care about boards as I will be enjoying my plastic surgery rotation during that time. luckily i get to be very shallow for one month with a chinese man who thinks they must always be made bigger

2) Today, in the D, i was taught some local lingo. It seems one of the SICU patients refuses to take his blood pressure medication as it "messes with this nature." Hmmmmm, I think I like that phrase.

3) So deciding whether you are going to do general surgery is a decision bad enough in itself, but then this whole osteopathic vs allopathic match decision is killing me. If I understand right, i must forgo the osteopathic match if there is an allopathic residency I want to go to. then if, for some reason I don't get the allopathic one, i will get to scramble and miss out on an osteopathic residency which, though not as good as the allopathic one, will fill up without question. I knew i was getting myself into this, but it is pretty "iffy" if it's worth it. thank god for my Dean's letter which was a word-for-word repeat of my CV.

is that the same rad tech from Mason City that was hitting on all the med students?

No, different one. But this one doesn't act all slutty at work. She's all business till she's on stage.

Long day tomorrow folks.....8am to at least 11pm. This means several things. I will miss good tv programming yet again. I will be forced to learn about stuff that has no bearing in my selected field......I mean how many times am I going to intubate in my future FP practice? And lastly, I may fall asleep during a rectal or pelvic exam......and that's never good......never.

How can you complain when you always get to be the one shoving long objects down other people's throats?

My hospital has a super hot slutty rad tech too. I'm noticing a trend here. Lucky, don't be coy, I know that girl got the cure for her serbiasian fever that night. I heard her ask if that was a roll of silver dollars in dmaks pocket.

Silver dollars?? More like a CD spindle...

More like a roll of paper towels, Brawny brand.

Natz and I were angling for her, and Nat's boobyliciousness might have won her over but then she noticed I was only sporting a roll of yen, the kind with the hole punched out in the middle, it's a congenital thing🙁

So here's news:

I went for a check up and got to chatting with a doc who's getting ready to leave the Navy. He's been through internship and is just GMO'ing his time away so he can go train civilian. He's been though the intern military match, and the resident military match (unsucessfully on this second thing).

He touted having master's degrees as a sureshot for residency. I'm not sure that's exactly true, but having my 2 m's will be one more feather in my cap.

ADD to that: Two seperate providers (peds neuro, and ped surg) told me that the Navy is hurting for Peds Hem/Onc. Hurting for it.

ADD to that: 50% of Navy Peds Interns will train straight through this year.

HMMM.....

This means I have close to even shot of getting into internship (30-40 applicants for 15-19 spots), even odds of continuing into residency, then depending on how many Peds hem/onc docs decide to join in time of war over the next 3 years, I may get a fellowship based on needs of the Navy.

How freakin' wild (and exceptionally unlikely) would it be to get to train straight through for the Navy (and the fellowship is funded by the Navy and civilian carte blanche...you call up the place and ask if you can train there for free...they no pay...you work work....how easy a deal is that to make?) and the Navy actually needs it.

WTF?

Next some girl is going to tell me she thinks I'm handsome and smart. (besides Dejan dressed in Jane's white with pink trip hello kitty underwear and tank top)

Man, I miss Mason City Tappas....how long 'till the wedding?

And where are you registered? I have at the very minimum 6 gifts to buy. (one for each of you then one for each of our threesomes...to the 8th power)

That's great news! I hope it all works out for you, Ray.

I miss making all those little shrimpies with the goat cheese and prosciutto. Those were tasty! And your fried oysters...mmmmmm....I'm getting bloated just thinking about it!

Stop touching my underwear!!!!!!

We haven't officially registered yet. All you school people need not come bearing gifts...your presence is the best gift of all. Awwwwwww.....

ER schedule isn't as good as I wanted it to be.....I work weird hours but I get to sleep in a lot. Don't see the Mrs. until the wee hours of the night though. This is solidifying my FP pick. Boo to shift work.

Back in DC. Wow....it's like California was just a sweet dream.

Start Neonatology tomorrow....I did a few calls last month. It isn't even pediatrics, really. It's math, funny colored babies under blue lights, shoving tubes in holes, and not sleeping.

Anybody already finish their fourth year requirements of 8 weeks FP or 4 Rural / 4 FP yet?

Anybody already finish their fourth year requirements of 8 weeks FP or 4 Rural / 4 FP yet?

Has it been that long? Is that even possible? Anyhow, not me.

Hey, I was just wondering because I missed the game. Did Iowa win last night? I'm not too sure... Boy, that would be too bad if they lost.

Anybody already finish their fourth year requirements of 8 weeks FP or 4 Rural / 4 FP yet?

4th year started 15AUG, so by my calculation it would have to be 15OCT for someone to have finished their 4th year requirement of Fp/rural.

We're not doing our 8 weeks of FP till Jan-Feb. I'm so excited and can't hardly wait!!!

Does this remind anyone else of vik?

He and balaji lived across from me in the Imperial....I hope one day to be as cool as those two.

They were pimps. Great bachelor pad too.

Sounds like my honeymoon. Psych at IU starts tomorrow!
