Portier...I'm offended...You knew who I was last night.....Let's just say I still owe you some bacon-wrapped water chestnuts...or...if you'd like, just some nuts on your chest.

I'm Rick James, B!t*&.

Folger's crystals? I'm taking that as an insult. What about fresh roasted grounds??

Folger's crystals are good....dry...at night...without water to wash them down with.

Dr Dicky never invited me to dinner. I'm going to cut off all my body hair and mail it to his wife with an attached note:

"All this can be yours....if the price is right!"

Man, I freaking hate setting up my own rotations. You constantly worry all the time.

Congrats to everyone on interviews, engagments, and babies I missed!

POrtier, are you doing an internhsip course for your masters yet?

ER isn't too bad, though I thought I would have more of a relaxed schedule. With all the "lecture series' etc I end up working like tuesday through sunday.........at least drunk people are funny to me

Yah

I'm Ray, MHA as of last week. I have the diploma on my transcript and the degree on my Navy match sheet.

I did MPH internship and I'm working on the paper. I'm also doing another experience or two (camp sunshine) before I'm done with the project.

I am completely done except for that paper.

You're going to have more letters after your name than in it....... Kudos

That'll be hard...

My mom hypenated me, remember?

On the match front I realized today....in 8 FREAKING WEEKS I'll know where I'm going to train. Oh lord....I think I just pooped again.

So we made your favorite tapas today Ray. A little goat cheese and shrimp and prosciutto sound familiar? Jealous??

Very Jealous...Insanely Jealous.

Not as jealous as you were when the Maksimo would sleep in my room in Mason City, and you watched tv alone, but pretty jeaous. HA!

I'm actually on call at the NICU.

You totally have to ignore the hours here in this next statement, but damn, this is cool. Residents and interns are rotating off service, so I'm picking up more work. I got a set of twins today and got to do all the admin paperwork and workup. I'm hoping to pick up a micro-preemie and do the TPN calcs and all that.

Now that I speak the NICU language I have my legs underneath me. It's kinda like IM in Mason City...they treat me like a resident, but I have to wait in line behind the real residents for good patients...which is the same treatment I would want as a resident.

I did get hammered for examining babies "outside of care time," though. The nurses are very particular about this. You have to get clearance to check them out. Sorta' bass ackwards, but it is a team and it's been set up this way for a reason I'm sure. I'm still whining, though.

Anybody else ready for a vacation? These "sub-I's" and call are taxing.

I would love a vacation! But no luck till the week between xmas and new year's. I will be looking forward to taking major time off from rotations for interviews. And can't wait to be done in March!

Speaking of Mason City, I kind of miss that time. We had fun, didn't we?

Ah the good old days. Fending off come ons from attendings, eating lots of free drug meals and wondering a little more everyday why everyone's teeth are so bad and how they can kiss like that.

I do miss that place and time. It was like the excitement and planning time. And the rotations were just rotation not interview rotations.

I also got to shower with an Asian girl regularly. 👍 First time ever for me. 😀

With 8 weeks left until the Navy decides what training I'm good enough for, longing for the past is obviously normal. I mean before Christmas I'll know where I'm going to spend PGY1. "All we need is a little energon, and a lot of luck."

Dmak and J-ho, when are you two getting to Indy? We've been there for two weeks now. It's going pretty good. One of the residents has been talking me up to the residency director and now he wants to meet with me. I love the program, faculty is really friendly, love the residents. Indy is a nice city. On the fishing front there is a 1,500 acre reservoir in Indianapolis known for it's largemouth and northernpike. C-ya!

We got here last night boss.....we'll find our schedules out tomorrow and get in touch with you this week. We can still hit that lake......a little cold never hurt me.....ever.

We had to restrain a 317lbs man this morning. He smelled of **** and urine. I went to barnyard once that smelled better than that............I also booked my flight for interview #1. Now if only the other programs would make some decisions about who they want to interview because I am tired of thinking that I'm going to have to quit and move somewhere where they find fat 25 year old male strippers attractive. That's right I'm finally 25 today.

Happy birthday me, guess who is going to rent a car and enjoy the lower insurance.................muuuu ahahhaahahhahhahahaha

Happy birthday buddy.....how does it feel to finally have your gonads drop? I love you and restraining gigantaurs. On a different note....I have the greatest/least relevant rotation in the history of rotations. I'm there for 2-3 hours max daily watching pathology residents look at protein electrophoresis gels and say, "I think that looks like chronic inflammation." God I love medicine.

We should get this entire thread printed in book form and sell it to Somalian kids for money and blow. Random.......I know.

What part of town are you 2 staying? We are southwest of the hospital. It's kind of a ghetto area. I didn't bring any of my fishing stuff, perfect excuse for me to go buy new stuff! I love psych! I have my first interview scheduled (IU) and have about ten more waiting to schedule.

I had a patient who had pain when her bf pulled out today.............we worked her up for a million bucks and found out that she was on top and came down hard on it and then it hurt.............we also found out that he spunked in her, even though he told her she didn't.........of course we let her know.

I think we're kind of NE compared to IU/Methodist. It's off Keystone north of 62nd by a block or two if that helps. And I would buy snoopy gear if we decide to go "fishing."

OMG,
I will never turn off a Bears game again in the third quarter, even if they are down by 20!! You must be very happy today D-Mac

That was one of the greatest comebacks that I have witnessed myself.....I'm voting for Neil Rackers to go to the hall of fame for missing.

And on a another note......I PASSED YOU BOARDS! and did better the 2nd time......although it was only up from the first one...yikes!

I feel your pain, Mac.

I interviewed Monday with the dept head at Bethesda. I handed him my comlex reports so he could see them...step II on top. He looked at step II and went, "Whooooooa......Good Job!"

Then he flipped to step I..."Oh....not so good on step I."

classic.

Got an interview for my top choice this Friday, wish me luck everyone!

Sucks that monday night football is only for rich people, people that have cable...

What did you decide to go into? Where is your top choice? If you don't mind me asking.

Congrats either way.

Hey Dartos........any plans this weekend? The woman and I would like to get together maybe Saturday? I'm going to the Colts game Sunday. Or one of these nights.....lemme know. DAAAAAAAA BEEAAAARSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

My front row tickets to the Iowa/MI game approach ever closer, making it not so bad that I am working 3pm to 1am thursday and friday.........

When we all get back to Iowa for graduation we should plan dinner or something before dejan and I drink all the foreign whiskey he has been distilling.

So I'm going to the Colts game this Sunday and I just read that a bunch of stadiums are supposed to be blown up with dirty bombs. Question is, do I get to the stadium early and fight the Taliban OR eat a lot at a Colts buffet and then die because I can't leave the stadium due to food induced coma......I choose the latter.

D, saturday sounds good. There's supposedly an Iraqi restaurant called mix 5 that sounds pretty neat. We could try that. If the weather is decent we could go downtown and walk by the canal. The zoo is also nice. What did you guys have in mind?

BTW, I love the IU program. The faculty and residents are super cool. They also have a million awesome clinics. They have one of the few inpatient units dedicated entirely to borderline personality disorder. Awesome.😍 How have you guys liked your first week? Is lucky slot in the wishard building? If so we work really close to each other. I am in the psych ER right now.

Iraqi sounds cool with me....I'm sure the woman wouldn't mind. We'll go from there. We're having a good time so far. Lucky's with a very laid back attending in the ICU at Methodist. I'm kind of in between Methodist and IU at the Path building. I read gels and lab values for about 2 hours a day and then I'm done.....It's a great rotation for going on interviews. I'll give you a call tonight and we'll work out a plan for tomorrow.

Iraqi sounds intriguing. I'm down!

I like this place...nice facilities. But it's a little too big for me. I think I might be leaning towards a place that's a little more personal and you don't have to cover 5 hospitals that are spread out when you're on call. Unlike in Omaha where they're all connected with walkways. I do like how easy it is to get around within Methodist though, with the major hallways having names and all, like Professional Ave and Emergency Way 🙂 Parking sucks balls. I had to try three different lots before I found a spot this morning just cuz I showed up at 8am instead of 6am. I dunno...not like I have a sliver of a chance of doing rads here, but at least I know it's slipping a little down my personal favs list.

ICU is fun. I love when patients can't speak for themselves. You just do what you need to do for them. We got to try vent settings out on ourselves one day. Nothing like trying to keep an ET tube in your mouth when it's unloading a jet of oxygen at you. I lucked out with a great doc and resident too. Oh yeah, another great thing about this place....wonderful pizza!

IU is fairly large. I never have trouble parking because I purposely park over half a mile away because I like to get a little walk in every day. The size thing isn't too bad for me because psych is a little like OB, very inbred and we tend to keep to ourselves. Of course we get to know the ER guys pretty well. I'm in the psych ER right now, which is awesome. The attending i'm with is great, she pretty much let's me manage the psych ER and she'll precept. I LOVE PSYCH!!! I would love to move out west to the mountains, but I think it's even more important for us to raise the big guy by family.

I guess that is the first I've heard someone be excited about a borderline unit... usually no one is excited to see your local friendly borderline with teddy bear under arm.

I love the borderlines. I thrive on craziness. Give me a borderline or a raving schizoaffective over a depressed 40 y/o suburban housewife anyday! I don't like to deal with depression unless the person is trying to suicide. That's why I like psych so much, the drama comes from the patients, not your co-workers.

Btw baby you never said what you were going into.

Dartos...

I know i have no room to talk, but what makes you think psych is something you should be allowed to do? Just wondering. you are pretty whacko yourself as far as i'm concerned. But i love you like a man loves his....man-friends.

Astro, don't throw stones. Everyone knows youre going into surgery because you like inserting the foley catheter on the male patients after they are knocked out. Sick bastard.

I'm going into psych b/c I'm a cutter and want to compare wrist scars with my patients.

Those Turkish delights are pretty awesome. Who knew sugar and cornstarch could be made into such yumminess.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm doing rads cuz I have x-ray vision. Yup...I'm actually an X-man. Jealous?

I never had turkish delight before, but had been wanting to try them since Narnia came out. Not bad, very different. I want x-ray vision, but just for clothes. But not dudes clothes. Except Dmak's.

ER may as well be a pysch rotation. I've seen more psych now than when I was on psych. If another persons comes in with atypical Left lateral toe numbness that comes and goes for the past 6 months but today its there and they are worried they may have a blood clot I'm going to just start slapping.........

I got my 2nd interview in columbus..........America F*CK Yeah........coming again to save the .................... you get the idea.

I'm the freaking mack dady at circumcisions now. Well sort of...

I did 3 today. The first one was a little slow and teaching heavy, then I just got to do the other two while the resident sorta watched. During the last he was just doing notes until I placed the little penis guillotine. Then WHAMO!!

I'm really into this whole penis art thing. I'd like to get some adult volunteers with intact foreskin and make designs in it. Like since halloween is coming, I could make a jack-o-lantern pattern in one. Then on another I could make a pilgrim..then a snow man. Penis art.

And for the record, you can't say "this is twin A (boy) who will be circumsized today, and this is his sister, twin B who won't be" in front of an OB resident who is all crazy about female genital mutilation. I didn't mean to upset her, but she totally wigged out on me about it. Not that she's very normal to start with...or very fun to hang out with....but I imagine she's a good crotch doctor. In any case, don't say girls won't get circumsized is the lesson.

I'm finishing my last week here. OMFG I'm tired. Not physically as much as mentally. A month here takes like 5 minutes to go by, but feels like 100 years. 13.5 hous a day....bah!

Navy Match results in 7 weeks. If I get my first choice I'm totally gonna' have to throw a party in Cali for everyone. Rick...bring bacon wrapped water chestnuts. If I dont' get my first choice, I'll be happy to train anywhere, truthfully. In anything.

Especially penis cutting.

There you go again talking about foreskin....it's no wonder you want my bacon-wrapped water chestnuts....I think it's code for "ma wanka". Good luck with your match.

The really sad thing is that Portier didn't post this himself. This is actually a transcription of the first five minutes of conversation Portier had on his last date. I just don't understand how she didn't just crawl under the table right there at the restaurant. 😀

You and I are nemesisi now.......bitter nemesisi

Burn in hell..........bitter nemememeisisi

I'm wearing steel underwear around you......and teaching my penis kung fu.....bastard.👎 👎 👎

So I'm not doing the AOA match....but.....if I were......I'd be kind of concerned that the actual HQ is in Toronto. That scares me a bit....only because Canadians are a nomadic people that travel in hunt for food and live in igloos. I'm not sure how well that would translate into a proper match.....happy seal clubbing.

The saddest thhing about having been butchered at birth is the inability to wrap your foreskin around an apple. WHY GOD, WHYYYYYYY???

Intact adult foreskins are one of the funnest things to play with ever. You guys are totally missing out. Find yourself one and tell me that it's not the greatest thing next to a broken-in bar of soap.

So Lucky...

You are basically telling everyone on this forum that Dmak is a Snuffaluffagus?

mmmmmm.....smegma....yummy😱
