DO and MD

I am very new to med school process and am still trying to determine the different between MD and DO schools. Someone explain to me, like I am a two-year old, the difference. I have read up on the two and still am not seeing a real distinction. Is there a difference in what and how you can practice? I have heard DO schools are less competitive...why? What exactly do DOs emphasize vs. MDs??

I would actually say this issue is a bit too contentious for you to get useful information on the boards. Why don't you go try speaking to some local physicians, both DOs and MDs?
