Hi Everyone!

So it's almost the end of January, and I have gotten a mix of 4 rejections, 2 on holds for an interview, and 2 interview invites, both of which are scheduled for February. But, I still haven't heard back from around11 schools! I did submit my applications later in the cycle, Oct/Nov, and a few were at their deadline in December, but one of my interviews is from a school whose application I submitted at the end of November.

Does anyone have any advice for what I should do next? With the interview season ending in March, I don't feel optimistic about my chances at these remaining schools...are these all just silent rejections?

Has anyone here gotten an interview invite after February 1st for an April or March interview??

Thanks!

Yes, but I would say it's the exception rather than the rule. I suggest doing your best at the interviews you have and make sure you have a contingency plan.

Feb 1st is when the schools can see everywhere else their acceptees have been accepted. Does this shake things up a little?

I doubt it. If you're asking whether this new information has them wondering if they need to interview more people to fill the spots they now think will be vacated, that should already be taken care of by the waitlist.

is it only acceptees or ALL applicants still under review? i hope not the latter. it seems that would introduce unfair bias.

I hear it's only for acceptees. The latter situation occurs later (was it April or May?).

Yea. Only for the acceptees. Not sure about when they can see for everyone.

I had a March interview that I was invited to in February. But, at that point, you're pretty much in the territory of interviewing for a waitlist/alternate.

I got two last cycle. Both were in February, both were rejections.

I'm hoping for a couple last minute extra interviews... But -- I think its anecdotal to say that they will come.

I'm waiting for my 20 II's in February. Hopefully they'll come :xf:

Do you mind telling me which school? Is it top-tier schools that do this or the lower-tier ones? I read somewhere else on the forum that Stanford has been known to do this, but I might be mistaken.

Well, it's not quite February 1, but one of my friends got an II today to a top 20 after having a pretty disappointing cycle otherwise. N=1, but it does happen.

It may be worth your time to look in the school specific decisions for the schools you applied to. People often post if they received an interview invite. If someone does post you could consider private messaging them to politely ask about when they applied, when they were completed, what their stats are, etc.

you are correct about Stanford. according to the admissions office interview invites are sent through February and the last interviews are held through March.

Last year, I got an interview invite on Feb 25, interviewed April 11thish, got in around April 20th.

It happens but I think at most schools at that that point you're interviewing for waitlist spots. I would be developing a backup plan if you don't have an acceptance at this point.

Where?

I saw on mdapps, someone got an II to cinci in like march -- so i guess its possible -- but i'm sure it was for a waitlist spot.

I've gotten e-mails at a couple of schools recently stating that "I'm still under consideration" for an interview invite and to submit updates. So there is hope :xf:

To give everyone hope, I just received an interview invitation yesterday for my state school.

Some schools were still extending interview invites within the past week or two. e.g. Jefferson and Cornell. So there's still some hope.

I recieved one yesterday from Wayne University for the end of March

I received one yesterday from The Commonwealth Medical College for the end of March. No idea if it's for a seat or a spot on the waitlist.

I got one from NYMC on 1/31 and from Mt. Sinai on 2/8. It's still possible!

Last year, I got an interview invite for GW in very late Feb for an early March interview. It happens, but chances of getting an interview invite are lower at this point. I only had a week notice for that interview, so I'm guessing someone had cancelled last minute.

GL!
