Uh most schools have a tuition around that. We dont exactly get to be super picky as Canadians (unless you have dual citizenship). I know Western is 45000 and I think Touro-NY is 28000? With living expenses they are both about 75000 a year

What schools are below 40,000?

LECOM is well below 30k- but none of us has received any invite from there.
KCUMB is around 42k

Well we don't even have enough MD schools 🙁. DO will take years to come 🙁.

-It is true DMU has that policy.

- I paid the DMU "initial" (non-refundable) deposit of $500. I am desperately hoping that I will end up somewhere where I do not have pay that much money up front. I met TD Canada officials way back in Oct, they said its going to be tough to get that much loan. Oh my Med school dream: so near yet so far 🙁

Sadly it is true. DMU really REALLY limits Canadians unless you swim in Laurier bills (I cant remember whos on the $100 so $5 will do. Its a REALLY big pool😛)

I have to ask, how did you get into LECOM-B as a Canadian? Do you have dual citizenship? When I applied to LECOM-B, I called to confirm they accept Canadians. They said they do. So I sent in my $55 and a few weeks later got a rejection letter in the mail saying "we dont accept internationals"😡

At UBC, first year physics is only 6 credits (despite having a lab too each semester). I will have to explain I did full first year physics with lab. As for English, I have NO idea where they got that from. I wouldnt have been able to graduate UGrad if I had less than 6 credits of first year english?

TRU is totally worth it. At UBC, I got killed my OChem. At TRU, im coasting with a 95 going into into the final. You still got 30 days! In case Western doesn't make its decision soon, just call them from Australia. Alas you will be incurring international cost. Fingers crossed though, may be they will use better postal service than Canada Post.

GTP its iffy at best! Really a gamble! I got rejected by LECOM-B and so did drc. Drc was told its because he is Canadian, I was not told so. LECOM-E: I keep on calling them. They are saying they do accept Canadians. I will sense they are either going to open our files last or they won't just look at them. The person above who says He got into LECOM-B has not confirmed whether he is Canadian or not. But if you look at his comments, he clearly says he/she is from Bradenton. So may be that worked in his favour. Its a huge gamble! Rest assure I have been burned to my ashes looking at individuals with inferior grades and MCAT than any of us Canadians getting interviews from these schools. Frankly speaking if you can cope with that heartache, it is okay (I am fed up! I have been waiting for frigging 2 and a half months now with no response from LECOM-E). IT is ONLy $50. There might be some hope still for LECOM-E as it is freaking huge!

ohh no sorry I should have been more clear. I have "beef" with DMU since they rejected me, but in all honesty im happy I got rejected because I didnt know about fronting the whole tuition until recently. So I didnt have to pay for a secondary.

I love Western, its my #1 choice lol so no beef with them, only love. In fact you prove a VERY good point about slacking on OChem. As such, I will be toning down SDN and more studying instead of reading SDN procrastinating lol😛

Not surprised the least bit. I was telling Americans this at my interview. None of them believed that the "worst" Canadian med school based on grades has a average GPA for accepted students on par with Harvard, John Hopkins, Stanford, etc

The average GPA at those "ivy league" schools is like 3.7-3.8 and MCATs around 32-36. The average person I know who got into UBC Med had an MCAT of 33-39 and a GPA around 3.8-4.0 (85% is an A at UBC, and the % average was 87 for the newest class)

The word around here is that LECOM-B doesn't accept Canadians. you should just call them and ask before sending $50.

I agree with VPP, I was told "oh ya we happily accept Canadians" basically. So I jumped on sending in my cheque without checking to see if any Canadians had been accepted there in last year or so. My letter of rejection specifically says I am international student and this is the reason. I might have kept my letter somewhere in my room so I can take a look, and see if I can scan it up on here to show you guys so you believe me. Does anyone know how to load pictures into SDN?

Honestly, its $50. In the grand scheme of life, thats nothing. Who knows, you might be that 1/100 Canadian applicants that they are interested in for whatever reason. My friend applied to Cornell med school last year as a Canadian. The school has accepted TWO canadians in their entire existence. He got accepted and started in August. So there is a small chance LECOM may take an interest in you, it all depends if you wanna spend the $50 or w.e

Hey medapp. I thought I read somewhere that you had to fill out the LECOM immediately. Ie, you don't need a formal invite to fill it out. Is this right or am I full of crap?

Either way, if you competitive canadians who applied early have not heard back, there is no point in me applying. all this money adds up.

And I'm back after my exam SDN sabbatical! How's the process going for everyone? Hopefully all your interviews have been going swimmingly and the acceptances are flowing in.

PS: What I dislike is that the 5 other schools I submitted secondaries at still haven't contacted me with reject/interviews yet. Seriously, if I hadn't already been accepted I'd be tearing my hair out. Is it really that hard to fire us off an email?!
