Hey guys,

I'm in the process of applying to optometry schools, but still concern about whether I'll get in because it's such a competitive program. I have 3.15 culmulative GPA and an average of 300 on OAT. Do I have a shot??

Thanks in advance~~~

apply with a positive mindset! a negative one can take a toll on your application 🙂

yes you have a good shot assuming lots of shadowing and extra curriculars.

Also, it depends on the subscores of that 300 average. if you dropped below 300 in any sub section, SOME schools will immediately say no. just call up your favorite school and ask them. they will let you know.

I actually have a few sections dropped below 300. But I will be retaking it again in Dec. and hopefully scores will improve.

Also, do you know how long it will take OptomCAS to mail out the applications to the designated schools?? and do the LOR's must be received by OptomCAS before they mail out apps?

Thanks a lot!😛

about 5-10 days for Optomcas to get to the schools after you hit submit (assuming they already have your transcripts)

No, you dont have to have LOR's received, only designated. the app will go out first. then optomcas will forward the LOR as they come in to the schools.
