Hi, I'm a 3rd year DO student interested in applying to allo EM and was hoping you all could give me some advice I took step I of the USMLE and did pretty well(230+) and was just wondering if I should still plan on taking step II of the USMLE or not? I'd prefer not to take it just because I don't think I'll have a lot of time to study for it(I'm getting married next summer) but I can probably fit it in if need be.

Just to clarify since I'm post call/sleep deprived which means my above rambling probably doesn't make sense😴 I know I don't need to take step II of the USMLE to graduate, I just want to know if allo programs will want to see step II scores from a DO, even if I did respectable on step I? Thanks for any advice

This is a complex question and generally it is program specific. In general, COMLEX scores will suffice.

just a general question regarding this on the flip side - i have a friend in a DO program who decided not to take the USMLE's but stated she would take step II though for allo programs. How do program directors feel about that?

Most of us will be grateful for whatever data we can get. But few require it.
