I hear people here often say that if you have an MCAT that is so high, DO schools may not offer you an interview because they see your high MCAT and assume you may not go there because you are probably going to get in elsewhere.

To me, that is absolutely the dumbest thing I've ever heard, that they would not offer you an interview because you are so overqualified. But does something like that actually happen?

It make no sense to me that they wouldn't offer interviews to the most qualified applicants

I really doubt it. You would think the school would know you want to go there if you're willing to spend around $500 to apply there and arrange travel. I have a buddy who got >10 DO interviews last cycle with a 38 MCAT.

They most likely will offer you an interview and accepts you. No worry unless you have other red flags in your apps.

It seems to me that you are being troubled by your high MCAT score haha.

Happens at many schools MD and DO. It's called yield protection.

Most schools like high MCAT scores

It's total bull**** that schools won't interview you. You'd be a catch.

The record for me is someone with a 40. He got rejected for being robot, not because someone thought "he'll never come here".

Goro, did you reject this person post-interview? Or was it because of their lack of altruism based on the application?

He was rejected post-interview. He had all the charm of a Stop sign. Never once made eye contact with anyone.

Did he walk in like this?

Just thought it was a weird thing to pick. And stop can be associated with rape...

Never heard of stopped being associated with lack of charm.
Goro said "charm of a stop sign". A thing. Of the possible street and neighborhood adornments, that's pretty low on the impression front, right? Substitutes could include "charm of a... Rock... Mailbox, junkyard..."

Haha, I'd say it's fair to say you just misread or misinterpreted. Not a biggy, but definitely added a twist to the conversation.
