IDK man.. up until some time ago.. i used to debate with my friends saying unguided evolution is the answer...

then suddenly.. one day.. something ticked, and that doesn't make sense... maybe that has something to do with me completely falling in love with my gf, lol... I never believed in any God before that.. now I'm starting to think there might be somebody "up" there...

maybe, too much of my friends is rubbing off on me.. idk..

maybe, so many species vanish so often is because the "One" is trying to organize his experiment, or cleaning up his room.. lol...

i dont know man... i do think evolution is the reason for speciation / extinction.. but I don't think it can be ABSOLUTELY unguided.... no one can know for sure - unfortunately

I definitely appreciate what you're saying here and I can definitely relate to your reasons.

I just wanted to say that the position you hold is entirely legitimate and reasonable. Educated people can disagree and debate on this.

The position you hold is the position of the catholic church, for example. They, along with other religions, act like grown-ups and accept that evolution is not something you may or may not believe in. They take it and make it compatible with their religion and so forth.

In other words, they take this discovery and say: "See! See how great god is to have used evolution to result in our current circumstance?!"

As opposed to, "The dinosaur bones were placed there to test our faith." Or, "What dinosaur bones?" Or, "What evolution?"

so... cheers!

just a quick question..

to the people who don't think "the human" is perfect, are you guyz the "glass is half empty" type? or do you not have any artistic/ appreciative bone in your body where u constantly have to point out things that are wrong?
it is supreme human arrogance (and yet another fallacy of "intelligent design") that the human form is the crown jewel of biological design.

Why must you only appreciate things for their "perfection"; can you not see artistic beauty in the imperfections of nature? Imperfections make one realize how beautiful life is considering how vulnerable life is to nature's forces.

We're the type that understand the definition of 'perfect' unlike yourself.

One thing we all have in common I believe is that we enjoy medicine and working with people.

I guess we can leave it there. It is silly to call each other "*****s", "lazy", "stupid", etc.

What good does this do. You may think some people are dead wrong and that is fine, you don't have to persuade everyone to your way of thinking.

If someone can prove people don't have souls or that God doesn't exist, then I will jump on your bandwagon but if not then we might as well abandon this discussion.

There is nothing constructive coming from this.

Perfect vs imperfect

Humans work very well in this world, better than anything else we've seen. Some may call this perfect and some may see flaws in the system.

Oh well.

This is funny because there have been many times in human history where we could not see something. Physicists still work on things that can't completely understand nor see.

Define soul, let wikipedia do it. Everyone has an idea:
It is funny you say that belief of a soul is lazy. Albert Eienstien was likely more intelligent that you and he believed in a soul and a God. Is he now a lazy idiot or something?

Einstein never ignored science for the sake of holding unscientific beliefs.

yeah, lol

the church is notorious for using recent findings to its advantage...

but, when people used to believe in God blindly... if they thought god was smart enough to actually "create" them.. then if he exists, he certainly must be smart enough to come up with evolution..

and in that case, not to offend the ladies, god can be he or she...

oh, if u read my previous posts, i wasnt saying only humnas are perfect.. i said all organisms are perfect.

How about neither? Why should God be subjected to the human definitions of gender?

No, they aren't; if they were, they would be invulnerable to any and all environmental obstacles. Now, if the world somehow snapped itself into a Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, you might have an argument.

This will cheer you up, I am a huge Peyton fan. And I hope we see a manning bowl this year.👍

I understand god as energy.(E)

He has always been constant. He Was not created or destroyed.
Mass came from Energy...

so, ideally most males develop prostate cancer? Ideally, we have appendix(es?) that burst and kill us? Ideally, childbirth is a deadly proposition to the female body? Ideally, we have our optic nerve placed over our retina?

etc.

yes, do you want the earth population to grow to 10 billion?

lol. compared to what? What if childbirth killed a woman 100% of the time? What if our appendix just automatically killed everyone at 5 years old.

You are comparing "human" to your perfect idea of "human". Everything could be much worse. Both sides have a point here.

Since you're so incilned to reference things on the internet you should look up either/or fallacy.

You're saying, ideally we're born with all these defects OR we'd have an overpopulated earth.

If God created us in God's image, what and where is this image? And why is this image better or different than any person's image of a perfect human?

How does this support the claim that we're perfectly designed?

Your argument that since 'things could be much worse' we're perfectly designed is fallacious.

God's image is in our soul. And to save the post, "define soul", here you go:

The soul, in many religions, spiritual traditions, and philosophies, is the spiritual and eternal part of a living being, commonly held to be separable in existence from the body; distinct from the physical part.

I didn't say we were perfect, I just am saying we are what we are.

Also, if we asked 100 people what a perfect human was we would get 100 different answers. What is it? immune to all diseases? live eternally? 1000 times stronger than an ape? able to fly?

There is no one definition. Maybe what is best is what is. Maybe we live in "the best of all possible worlds"

I think he means that by 'perfect' we are designed to live just as long as will keep the population in check...or rather from growing wildly out of control too quickly...a perfect human in terms of being invulnerable would over populate while a human that was too fragile would lead to extinction

also I think it's about time for a Giants comeback!

I didn't say we were perfect, I just am saying we are what we are.

I was arguing against vickpick's assertion that humans and all organisms are perfect.

I told him to look up the defn. and he did. And he stuck with it.

I worry about the universities you guys are going to..

This would imply that God was African American btw!!

lol that would be screwed up.. haha

so we're back to the fact that evolution happened and is happening.

everything else, cannot be proven / eliminated.

or for some god exist (approximately 85-90% of the world [probably more])

the rest: were never introduced with the concept of God, or decided to make their own decision based on their understanding and education and don't believe in god.

I'll match myself head to head with anyone on scholastics, MCAT, exams 🙂

By that definition, modern medicine is the antithesis of human perfection.

If God created us in God's image, what and where is this image? And why is this image better or different than any person's image of a perfect human?

Kind've simple actually. God is a trinity, Father, Spirit, Son. We as humans are Mind, Body, and Spirit. That is what that verse is referring to.

He actually did mean perfect btw. And by perfect, he meant ideal. To say that our bodies or even, as he asserted, all organisms are ideal and perfect is laughable.

So, I am laughing away.

You're right in saying a perfect human in terms of being invulnerable would be bad. Way to argue against a position I don't necessarily hold. 👍

By that definition, modern medicine is the antithesis of human perfection.

Maybe life is supposed to be how it is.

Maybe medicine is supposed to do what it does.

Maybe people are meant to do what they do.

moving on... to life of a pre - med..

doing my lab report the night before its due...

Saying things like that to everyone doesn't strengthen your arguing abilities...

Maybe if frogs had wings they wouldn't bump their behinds on the ground with every hop.

Maybe if my aunt had bollocks she would be my uncle.

Good luck to everyone on getting into medical school! I wish everyone the best.

Peace be with you all.

No animosity, much love
