no. just leave this thread and pretend you never made that angsty post claiming your superiority over everyone else here. just ride off into the night and we will all pretend you never made that post. save yourself from further humiliation. don't dig any deeper kid.

again...humiliation...embarrassment....

this is an online anonymous forum....no one knows who i am....why would i feel embarrassed?

I guess you feel that this is the best use of your time....to each his own

after careful consideration of what to say and multiple shots of whiskey, i have only this to say: it takes a special person to stare in the face of genetics and say "nope. evolution didnt happen"

hm....angry post, where?

He's still pissed about the time his favorite priest was forced to leave the parish.

... and here we go. im sure the large numbers of catholics you will invariably interact with during your medical career would love to hear your little jokes about their religion.

I dont get how anyone can study science like we do and believe in god. Everything is contradictory, like the walking on water, parting the sea, dying and then living later, changing water to alcoholic beverages. Common Sense + Science= no god.

Criss Angel can walk on water. I firmly believe that He is the Second Coming.

Your "tolerance" of absurdity doesn't make you any better or smarter than those of us who see religion and religionists for what they are. Learn that quickly and you'll be better off.

C'mon, they have to have senses of humor to be Catholic in the first place!

keep digging kid, i won't stop you. its pretty evident that you do care about your rep if you're still here trying to dig it out. trust me kid, you'll fail just as you failed to get yourself out with this last post. just leave now, you aren't ever getting back to sea level in this thread.

go ahead. tell your attending, your PI, the nurses you work with that you don't tolerate their absurdity. I dare you.

Wunna bet? Unless you're god or something you never know.

you know you can say "kid" as much as you want but you really don't sound intellectual, you sound bitter. I don't understand why, I haven't made any arguments against any claims

oh and how do you fail a post?

wow this thread is so pointless.

You're right. It was good, and then it got personal. Wouldn't it be nice if you could have collected, logical, thoughtful discussions without them devolving to name-calling?

of course. you barged into a discussion about evolution and natural section and asked why we are having such a discussion, rather than getting drunk and laid, on a sunday night. you've almost dug through to china, keep it up.

this is why premeds are viewed as antisocial douche bags (im premed btw, don't let the tag fool you)...it's Sunday freaking night and you guys would rather argue about your personal beliefs to an anonymous forum than go out with your buddies, get laid, study, watch tv, or perform one of the various other tasks that are more beneficial than contributing to this topic....

the getting laid part is legit....where is the part about getting drunk?

that would be irresponsible...i see where your head's at..

What if he's in China? 😕

I see your logic. But in all honesty, the belief that I"m strong is more flimsy than my belief that there is a God. I've seen myself make blunder after blunder. Fail others and myself again and again. The belief that I'm strong is clearly untenable, one that I cannot possibly convince myself to accept. My own vulnerability is something that I've long accepted.

What then? What do weak people like me latch on to? I think our society generally looks down at people who are "weak" or accept "weakness." The manly way is to simply grow some balls, damn it!

But weakness has always been a source of personal strength for me. "Become empowered by admitting your own powerlessness"--that sounds like something from alcohol anonymous, eh? But it's something that I personally live by.

But let me stop here, nip this in a bud, as tears might begin to well up in my eyes.

Appreciate the honesty, but how does it help you when you admit that you only believe in a god because you are weak? If you are satisfied by such flimsy beliefs, why don't you just cut to the chase and believe you're strong?

oh and fallenhero:

you may get a call after this discussion to rate my performance, can I count on you to give me at ten? [insert cheesy smile here]

no more dirt kiddo. nothing more to dig. i guess all that's left for you is to sit near the pile you built oh-so-proudly while the rest of us point and laugh at your condescension towards our sunday night activities. you had your warning. hows beijing?

lol....listen, i appreciate a good metaphor, always have since i was a kid....but this one is just lame.

common a little more thought and intelligence would be nice

😀

(the purpose of the smiley face is to rile you up because you think I'm happy over here)

but just for funzies....and because it's a metaphor (not a very good one though)

I missed Beijing and ended up in North Korea...now I'm in a labor camp...i guess I'll just wait for Bill Clinton

How about actually contributing something worthwhile to the thread instead of trolling it?

honestly, you're right. i don't have anything worthwhile to contribute to this thread

this is where i ride into the night....

The US is lagging behind in the secular realm; most european countries are over 50% secular, while we suck at around 30%. Lets pick it up! Atheists are only at 15% here, while 95% of scientists are.

Easy - that's 95% of scientists in the National Academy of Science that are atheists, not scientists in general.

That's a great argument. Europe, by its very definition means "better," thus they should always be followed - no matter what!

Very true. Wissen macht frei!

Thats knowledge makes one free for non german speakers

Knowledge also tends to bear a huge burden on the beholder, as well.

Like having to give up the belief of god when you know its ridiculously stupid to believe in it?
And Im sorry, 90% of scientists are atheists, in general.

Those bunnies are really cute!

No; don't put words in my mouth. What I meant was there are times when, upon discovering the truth and realizing the implications of those truths, you wish you hadn't gained such knowledge to begin with.

For example, one can only imagine what those heading the Manhattan Project were thinking when watching the Trinity explosion and realizing what they had just done.

Knowledge is burdensome, especially when it flies in the face of moral principles you hold. However, I personally would rather live in discomfort knowing the truth than be shrouded in blissful ignorance.

Read that ^

Now, 90% of scientists are atheists that automatically gives atheism credibility and makes everyone else ridiculously stupid. Even though atheism is a relatively new idea and true atheism does not believe in human rights or humanity in general.
