What exactly is a Pharmacy residency/fellowship? Moreover, how difficult is it to obtain one and does one get paid?

Yes, residents get paid, but not as highly as pharmacists in other areas of practice. The resident salaries I've seen range between $32,000 to $51,000 per year. Most programs fall in the middle of that range.
