And if yes is the general consensus, is it looked at as completely un-understandable to take a yr off and mainly study for DAT/do other things before applying to dental school? esp if said student is doing like 20 or more credit hr semesters?

I would say its not wise to take a year off to study for the DAT... If you are taking it off for other reasons (travel, job, dental experience, raise GPA), then that would be a great time to study.

However, my experience is that school breaks are the best time to study (winter, spring, or especially summer). If you do a little bit of review during the school year, you can organize your studying better during these breaks.

i agree with harjay. if you need to take a year off to study for the DAT, what are you going to do when you have to take the boards? take the year off? ha

jb!🙂

Why not study over summer break?
