For me, I feel like the hardest part of the interviews is coming up with unique, thoughtful questions or the interviewer or admissions counselor.
I've tried to look things up but I feel like asking them something that could easily be found on their website is useless...

Any suggestions from those that have come up with good questions?

I asked my interviewer how they got where they are and why they chose to go into dentistry at the end after I asked questions I had based on the program.

I always asked about research opportunities and service opportunities. Even if they explained these topics earlier in the day, you could ask questions that build off of what you heard.

I've asked twice now "if every dental school was the same price, what is the one thing about this school that would make a student choose it over anywhere else" or something similar to that.

Both times I've asked it, the interviewers have been really receptive. Their answers then usually led into more conversation or more questions on my end.

I think the interviewers hear the same questions from students every day - service, volunteering, curriculum, patient care.... flipping the tables and making them sell the school to you (if done correctly) can really make you stand out in a positive way.

At most of my interviews, I've asked "Where's the best place to grab dinner this afternoon?" I was lucky enough that it was always received well and lightened the mood. But it certainly could have come across as me not taking the interview seriously.

Haha I get personal... Why are they here at this school? How did they get this job? Do they like it? What class do they teach? How soon will you be able to take their class? 😛

People love talking about themselves and I'm naturally nosy. And if you can channel that and make it fun and conversational... you are good to go. Think of it as last minute charming. 😉

I wondered if it might come off as unprofessional at first but it got me 100% interview/acceptance so who knows. He humble but also confident.

I personally have always turned it back to something that came up during the interview. I like to make my interviews very conversational, and throughout the conversation you'll notice where theor interests tend to lean. Once you know that you know what type of question to ask.

For example if the faculty member speaks very briefly on student extracurriculars, but mentions a lot about the curriculum, maybe ask "well why did the school implement (system) and how do you think it's beneficial for students"? Etc.

Long before I applied for dental school I've been known for having stellar interviews, one of the reasons is because I don't script responses. Unless there is a question you really think you need to prepare for, just relax and feed off of social ques. They're not there to grill you or see if you're mentally capable, it's too see if you fit the schools personality.
