Does anyone use an audio recorder?

I am planning on getting one to record some of the lectures we have during the clinical years as well as certain presentations/ grand rounds I find interesting so that I can refer back to them for personal reference. I have used a cassette recorder in the past, but am leaning towards getting a digital audio recorder. There are so many options out there though. I was wondering if anybody has any experience using a digital audio recorder and any recommendation(s)
