Does being part of NIH IRTA help get into Johns Hopkins?

Short answer: yes

Medium answer: see above

Long answer: Research experience, particularly one as involved as the IRTA at a place such as the NIH, will certainly strengthen your medical school application, provided you can show adcoms what you got out of the experience. However, it's not going to make Hopkins in particular any more likely than any other school. Hopkins is exceptionally competitive to get into and most of their interviewed applicants have outstanding research experiences (in addition to everything else - their median stats are 3.9/36), so while the IRTA is a solid program, it's not "standout" for a school like Hopkins (or most of the top 20).
