A friend of mine got the Downstate Hold letter yesterday post-interview. Can anyone explain what that means?

From what I've read, it seems like the hold letter means that the application will be reviewed again after May 15th because as of now, they haven't decided whether to accept or reject. After May 15th, the hold can either turn into a rejection or a waitlist spot, which is further broken down into the alternate list or the high priority list. Not sure if holds can go straight to acceptances or not.

Do you know when your friend interviewed? I'm still waiting to hear something. Thanks.

From my impression on this site, people who were accepted generally found out in about 6 weeks. I think holds/rejections do take longer.

Just curious, is true that kids that goto downstate tend to hold in their feces for longer periods of time? Thanks...just wonderin, rumor I heard

Thanks...I dunno if that's good news yet though. Can anyone back this up?? If I don't hear in the next week, does that mean I'm either on hold or rejected?

Acceptances are mailed out in six weeks.

So if it takes longer than six weeks, is it definitely a hold/rejection? Or can acceptances take longer than 6 weeks sometimes?

i received my acceptance 12/24 after i interviewed 9/27 so i wouldn't actually hold the six weeks theory as gospel. no hold letter or anything. just a long wait.

I just called them and the woman said a decision hasn't been made, so I asked when the committee will meet next to make a decision and she goes "well, I don't see you scheduled on here to go to the committee" and i'm like "uhh, so basically I interviewed 6 weeks ago and no one's looked at my app since?" and she said yea. WTF!?!?
