Hoping to e-submit my app next month. These supplemental questions are killing me.

I feel you. I have so many essays! You can do it though!

TWU is going to be difficult getting into with your gpa's. The students accepted last cycle had an average last 60 hours gpa of 3.85 and a math and science gpa of 3.8. They are looking for gre scores to be 155V, 155Q, and 4.5 AW. So you've done well on that aspect of your application. I would apply to more schools as if you can!
Do you know if a large number of observation hours/many locations can make up for an average gpa? I am also looking at Twu and have a similar gpa. Also, so they take into consideration where you went for undergrad? Idk if that will help me but hopefully...

Yes, I'm definitely applying to more schools, especially after seeing how my stats compare to other people. There's not much I can do for my GPA anymoree, so I'm just hoping my GRE/hours/extra-curriculars are enough to make me stand out!

I'm not quite sure. They start off by scoring the academic aspect of your application. You have to get a certain score in order to move on to the next part of the process where they look at the rest of your application including your essays, rec letters, observation, etc. I know for sure that TWU gives priority to people that did their undergrad there. A large amount of students in their upcoming class went to TWU.

JUST SENT IN MY APPS TO...

Texas: Hardin-Simmons, UNT, UIW, UTMB, Texas Tech, USA
California: Mount St. Mary's College
Louisiana: UL-Shreveport, UL-New Orleans
Illinois: Midwestern University - Downer's Grove

Good luck !!

I've applied to TWU, UTMB, UNT and Angelo State (but I still need to email Angelo State an additional essay).
I plan on applying to Texas State soon but I'm still finishing up that essay as well.

To answer your question:
I e-submitted on 08-10, got verified on 08-22, and just got an email today (08-25) from UTMB inviting me to an interview. I saw two other people here that also got interview invitations pretty quickly so it seems like UTMB is rather quick, which makes sense since they have rolling admissions.

Do you have a number one choice?

I'm applying to several of the same schools as you. My understanding is that rolling admission programs will respond more quickly. Most programs however seem to respond between Dec to Feb time frame. Give or take a few months before and after.

Hello,

I've been following this network for a while, and just recently this thread, but am just now posting:happy:. This is my third time applying to PT school, so I'm trying to make the best decision on where to apply this time just because it's a lot of money. I would love to hear anyone's opinions or get some advice.

Here are my stats:

Undergrad: Winthrop University
Major: Exercise Science, Business Admin Minor
GPA: 3.42
Pre-Req GPA: 3.05-3.3 (depending on what school) (mostly B's :()
GRE: 147V 152Q 4.0W (took 4 times )
Observation Hours: 3000+ (in 4 different settings)
Extras: Student Athlete (Leadership award), Member of a Sorority (held a position), Honors Society for Major (held a position), CPR certified

I'm thinking URI, UNE, Umass Lowell, MCPHS, Wingate, Mary Baldwin, maybe The Sages and NYU?

Any advice would be awesome! Thanks!

I'm honestly surprised you've been denied for two cycles! I've seen lower stats than yours get in. It must be the pre req GPA that is holding you down the most? What do you think based on the feedback (if any) that you've gotten?

In either case, best of luck to you this cycle!

Definitely.

Your cumulative GPA is just a tad below average from what i've seen for most schools, however your pre-req GPA is really high so that will make up a lot of ground. Your GRE scores are around where they should be, and everything else looks like you've got covered.

Good luck!

Like some others who are posting here, I'm looking for feedback on whether or not I actually stand a chance of getting into a DPT program. I'm a non-trad student looking to make a career change from a completely unrelated field. I'm a bit nervous about my stats, but hoping it's good enough to get in somewhere. Here's my info, let me know what you think. Thanks in advance for the input.

I think your scores look fine! You'd be surprised at how diverse a cohort is! I've heard people from all types of backgrounds and majors are accepted as long as they have the requirements. Most schools like the diversity! I actually work with two Duke PT grads and they say Duke looks at the application as a whole, not just based on your GPA or your GRE scores, same with Wingate and Winston-Salem State! I have friends at both! I also have a friend (too many friends in PT school already haha) that's in her second year in USC's DPT program, and her class only has 19 in it, which is insanely small! But I know a lot of her classmates had pretty high scores, however she doesn't know about everyone, so you never know! Best of luck!!!

Touro University Nevada, University of Illinois at Chicago, University of Jamestown, Western Kentucky University, Wheeling Jesuit University

E-submitted: 9/02

Verified: 9/14 (I emailed them about it and it verified like right as I did it IDK if that helped or what but it was taking a long time.)

------------------

Acceptances: Hopefully all of them! :)

Rejections: But, for sure a couple since I didn't hit the 3.0 cGPA. (sadface)

Interviews:

(I have very low GPA's I know, but I have faith! My last 60 hours are like 3.7+, got deans list my last semester, some very solid LOR's, and from the feedback I have gotten people seem to think my essay is great. Im really hoping to get into high point. It is their first time accepting students, I went down there and the directors were fantastic. Had an amazing vision for the program and I want to be part of that. They are amazing sport PT's, and their biomechanics professor and movement analysis labs are best in the country. Honestly if I get the interview there I know I will nail it they already know my face, I got a feel for what they are looking for, and I am 100% ready.)

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!

Verification for me took a lot longer than expected in my opinion, but I guess it's because everyone's finally submitting their applications?

Hey, I created a thread for Texas applicants, it's called "2016-2017 Texas Applicants" :)

How long did it take to verify from the time they received your official transcript ?

How long did it take to verify from the time they received your official transcript ?

My application was e-submitted on 9/12 (PTCAS had received all transcripts by this point) and verified on 9/22. I paid with a money order, which took about 4 days for PTCAS to receive, so it was ~6 days between them receiving my money and verifying my app (and 10 days between e-submitting and verification). I imagine the closer we get to Oct 3rd, the longer it will take them to verify apps...

It took exactly a week. I read other people's processing time and it seems that they waited a shorter amount of time than I did. I was getting nervous and thought that they might not verify my application and make me go back and correct stuff, but fortunately that didn't happen.

Nope they didn't say anything about them. However, my GPAs are extremely high and the rest of my application was really good so the GRE was the only "weak" part to it.
