Drexel Acceptances?
Started by dth92
yeah mine had the interview link for three weeks after i actually went to the interview.
who knows what they're doing with admissions this year??? everyone knows that they were way WAYYY over enrolled last year and i'm sure they're ensuring and taking great pains to not have that happen again. who knows what the accepts/waitlist is going to be like this year for Drexel. it's futile to try and anticipate/predict what the future holds....
Me? I'd love to see a [announcer voice] Waitlist WHEEL OF DEATH!!!! [end announcer voice]. a close second? ninja (medschool) warrior or american gladiators obstacle course.
i know it sucks waiting, but best of luck to all of you...

Yay! I wasted 3 minutes of my day!

1 user with post-interview, pre-decision (no "your file is under review" status .. file hasn't yet gone to adcom) CANNOT get in
1 user with waitlist CAN get in ..

I got my waitlist letter yesterday and today I can access the website. Yesterday, I could not access it.
I can access the website, if that helps any.

I got my waitlist letter 3 weeks ago, and checked the other banner decision site and it says my waitlist is confirmed. I still cannot access the site you guys are listing here. I get the same error as above
so for the people that have gotten in, whose from so cal and whose excited about going to drexel? i have to admit i'm pretty pumped. i've actually talked to some former students from drexel now doing their residency here is so cal and they loved their experience in philly.

Final decision made update today. Since my mailman is always drunk and a lot of my mail goes missing or gets here really late, I called to ask if I could pick up. They shut me down on that one. Wish I had a p.o. box.
i think you can access the website if you're a IS waitlist/acceptance applicant
not true, i'm IS, WAITLIST applicant and I see nothing. Enough speculating on this, it means NOTHING!

woah there buddy take 'er easy no one's gonna bite ya 🙄 .. i was just seeing whether that meant anything
p.s. if you get a rejection off waitlist in the very near future, let us know!

So Cal here! At least for undergrad. I keep going back and forth between USC and Drexel though...did any of the residents you talk to have a view/opinion between the two or their experience in So Cal vs. Philly?

it's not even like that, it's all this speculation about what this and that might mean when obviously none of us have any idea. as far as rejection off the waitlist, from a friend who is a first year and pretty involved in admissions, nothing really happens until may-june which are heavy months for them. Unless it's like last year, which I don't think they'll repeat
Im post decision, pre-receiving the letter and cant get into the special website
Im post interview, post decision (which was made yesterday), pre-recieving the letter and I cannot log into the site. I dont know but you know I am not gonna go by that site because it seems so variable. Gawd I hope I get into drexel.

nah dude you're way out of line .. just take a chill pill and call me in the morning .. doctor's orders .. also, you should check that website every 5 minutes because if you don't you are auto-rejected haha (.. but for you, let me just say j/k)

oh i have a question. So i checked my status a few hours ago and it said that a letter had been sent but I still havent recieved any sort of email saying that my status has changed.......is that a bad sign? no email?
no one receives an email
ok thanks. it got me nervous but now ill just sit back and wait for the letter.
sorry to say, but enjoy your two week wait in hell...that's the worst part about the whole thing...you wait two weeks for the letter to come...

Agreed. It would be better if they never changed the message to "A decision has been made" and just mailed the letter whenever they mail it. They could just add to two week delivery time to the total time until you would get a decision (i.e., 6-8 weeks becomes 8-10 weeks which in reality is 12-14 weeks).
so if my status has said "Your file is being reviewed by a committee member, no decision has been made yet" for 1 week...then im lookin at somewhere between mid-march to april for an ultimate letter? interviewed mid-january.

Possibly. There was someone who was accepted in December and had a turnaround of about 5-6 weeks. Most people (acceptance, waitlist or rejection) seem to be waiting 12-14 weeks especially at this late stage of the game.

The resident's i talk to loved their expereince in philly. they said that the the online resources really made schedules extremely flexible. the philly was great for people interested in exploring the east coast. only a few hours away from other major cities. plus so much history there in the city as well! all in all, they were all very excited with their decision to attend drexel.
my biggest concern was with residency matching in so cal, but they reassured me that as long as a student works hard and does well on the boards, they can pretty much match in any field in any geographic region of the country. they told me that the name obviously doesn't carry the weight of some of the top tier schools, but many of the students have been successful in matching in great programs all over the country. the residents i've met are all doing their residencies in so cal (derm, ortho, gen surg, and internal med). 🙂
I interviewed nov. 20 and just got my acceptance today, now its time to go to the bars and celebrate!
Damn, I am still waiting. I interviewed around that time too...hopefully mine comes in the mail too.....
CONGRATS!! Man....the wait was a bitch...

hrm i interviewed on january 4th and they sent the letter 7 weeks after that so it should be a total of 9 weeks.

He means after a decision is made.
yes and? they sent my decision letter on friday.
Sorry, I misunderstood your intent.
I never actually received my letter from Drexel..so I'd definitely recommend everyone keep a close eye on their mail and if they don't get it within a couple weeks contact Drexel..thats what I did and they ended up faxing over my letter since it was likely lost..
Just my 2 cents

You lucky dog you 🙂

np np. i know we are both nervous. you are still waiting right? here's hoping to both of us. did they decide on your app yet?
Just out of curiosity..does anyone know what to expect next from Drexel (I'm posting in this thread just because it seems to be the official Drexel thread now)? I know they said to expect a financial aid package in the spring..but is that about it? I just wanna make sure I don't miss anything since I didn't receive the original acceptance letter either..

Hi,
You should receive information about sending in a deposit to reserve your spot. I'm not sure of the timeline, but you will get your financial aid package at some point in the spring. There will also be "Second Look Weekend" information going out later in the spring. Should you decide that Drexel is the right place for you (i.e. after paying your deposit, you do not withdraw from the college), you will get the packets about orientation and all the paperwork that needs to be completed. That usually comes over the summer.

I liked Drexel over USC The east coast match is better. I believe if you do your undergrad on the west coast your more rounded if you do med school on the East Coast. also Keck that funds USC also funds some programs at Drexel. With any of the Philly schools you can do your 3 and 4 year and any of 20 hospitals state wide. Drexel has a great diverse student body.. I may go to Drexel I hope to see you there
I have a theory about Drexel. Please note that this is based on nothing but my own personal common sense.
Let's assume that last year your class was 30+ppl to large. So large, in fact, that you had to offer people $10 grand to defer. Now, note that this isn't really because they accepted more people, but because more people took their acceptances to Drexel. As such, I think this year, they will straight accept fewer applicants. What seems probable to me is that they would waitlist a larger number of people, give out fewer acceptances and pull people off the waitlist, who are much more likely to commit to go there. Instead of doing what schools usually do, which is to accept say 400 people for a class of 250 knowing that on average 62% of their acceptances actaully attend, it seems like they might be accepting less students, seeing how many people are actaully committing and then adding people from the waitlist. That way, the number they accept will be closer to the number that they intend to matriculate.
Remember though, this is just a theory, and I have no idea of their intentions.

I bought the us news and world report for med schools,
They said drexel interviewed 1800!, accepted 1000 and matriculated 250. That was in 2005.
Thats alot of people.
