i was there 9/30 too, now you've got me nervous!! but who knows, it seems that a lot of people who interviewed earlier have still yet to hear anything so maybe we've still got a couple of weeks to wait. ugh!! 😳 let me know if you hear anything!! and good luck!

yeah drexel has a messed up way of reviewing interviewees. they must wait until they have the interviewers evaluation and the students evaluation.

if you had Dr. Domesek....like i did (who was a huge jerk)...he is TAKING forever on my evaluation

btw, i interviewed on 9/28 and they haven't evaluated mine yet 😡

yikes! i didn't have Dr. Domesek, i had Dr. Hanau, she was really cool. did you call about your application? i don't want to call, the office seems to be bombarded with calls/applications/etc and i don't want to get yelled at...

Hey!!! I had Dr. Hanau too!!! she was really cool but didnt ask me too many questions. She was really trying to see other philly schools to me for some reason, as if i would never even think about going to drexel. I would absolutely LOVE a drexel acceptance though. Was she this way with you too?

she didn't talk much of other schools, but she didn't ask me many questions. she just bascially went through my amcas with me. i don't know what that means, hopefully it's a good thing??!

I had Dr. Hanau as well. She was awesome. She didn't even mention any of the other Philly schools. She did hand me her business card, however, and said this: "If you find that you have more than one acceptance, please feel free to call me with any questions you may have." I thought that was kind of sketchy because my stats totally blow. Gave me a strong sense of hope though, so we'll see.

yeah i think everyone had a great experience with her and god the impression that she liked them... i wonder what that means.. i mean, she cant like everyone, and she cant really accept everyone! yikes, im freaking myself out.

congrats crzynikki 🙂
It's so weird that other people haven't heard, though. Not sure what's up with that.

So wait, how many of y'all were with me on 9/30? lol, now I feel like I probably made a big fool of myself in front of everybody there. Not sure why. The whole day felt very surreal for me because I'm at the school basically every day, so I think I was just sort of trying to remember that I was at an interview

I've been thinking more about the Jefferson vs. Drexel issue, and I'm really not sure which I would choose. In many ways I like Drexel better, but sometimes I think I'd get a better clinical education at Jeff. I guess I'll see what Drexel's decision is on me (I started getting really nervous after all the rejections here!), and then if I get in I'll have to think about it more. It also matters on what other schools decide to do about me 😛 ...it feels so weird to be at the mercy of adcoms! I also really want an interview from Pitt, but I just have to wait for somebody to make a decision on me. It's so frustrating, at this point, to just sort of be at the mercy of the adcoms 😛

Good luck everybody. I'm sure people will be getting more letters in the next few days. Let's hope they're good ones!! 👍

hey tigress-

i was with ya on the 30th, i was the girl from california... i was going to introduce myself but you had to run off to catch the bus for your interview and we never saw your group again. it is a bit nervewracking seeing all of the rejections come in, isn't it? i'm sure you'll get the most out of your education, no matter where you end up. and no, you didn't make a fool out of yourself as far as i noticed...

and good luck everyone, lets hope for those acceptance letters!!

Yeah, the three of us who had interviews down at Hahnemann had to run and catch the shuttle, which didn't show up! (I take this shuttle twice a day, it always shows up 😛) So we got there half an hour late, and then I was the second interview with the interviewer, and I ended up getting back to Drexel after everybody else had already finished their student interviews! It wasn't a big deal, but I think if I weren't familiar with the shuttle system and the school/hospital I would have been pretty stressed.

Thanks for the reassurance 😛 One cool thing I've been wondering is who from sdn will be my classmate next year? I'm sure that wherever I end up, there will be at least one person from here in my class. Now I have to wonder if that's a good thing or bad thing (depends on what impression I make on here -- probably verbose and a nerd with too much time on my hands!)

good luck to you. perhaps we will hear tomorrow? I'd suspect letters were sent either Tuesday or will be sent tomorrow, so we'll probably hear by the end of next week, at least...except I don't know what's up with all the other people who should have heard already, so who knows? 😕

My interview invite letter was written on the 12th of October, postmarked on the 17th, and received by me at the end of the day on the 20th. I'm a Cali resident FWIW.

Finally got the decision letter. It's a rejection. Don't really know what is going on. Thought the interview went well. Not even waitlisted!

Anyways, the decision letters are coming.

I'm sorry, that really sucks! When did you interview? I hope things go ok at other schools!

🙁 so sorry to hear this. Drexel is being weird this year. I hope you get other acceptances!! :luck:

yep, lol, i know who you are now 🙂

did the unmarked streets get to you? they sure messed me up, but i had left really early

this thread scares me. now i'm worried about their decision on my application (which is still weeks away, i'm sure). my interview was just kind of "ehh," although that seemed to be the general impression about experiences with that particular interviewer. you guys that had dr. hanau are lucky - she was definitely very cool. i was really hoping my interview would be with her, but it wasn't. anyway, good luck to those who are expecting decisions any time now! 👍

hey medstylee. can i ask who interviewed you? i just had mine the other day and am awaiting an answer in "6 to 8 weeks" according to the admissions office lady. i felt that mine was just "ehh" too. but then again i had a harrowing experience trying to get there on time via the septa and was just off kilter all day. i left early too so i hope that didn't look bad...

Who's this Dr. Hanau person... I didn't get an MD interviewer. I actually got the blond lady that does the little powerpoint presentation. I'm scared now that I see people getting rejected despite good interviews. Mine was actually not so good. She nitpicked at every little thing on my application. She'll be like, why didn't you take the mcat while you're still in school even though it wasn't really a bad score... I didn't know that was bad.... She also questioned why I put myself as disadvantaged... I only did it because my advisor said I qualify.... Then the we talked about the MD/MBA program half the time... I guess we'll find out.... :scared:

My student interviewer was fun. We clicked, and he pretty much forgot to ask me questions because we kept going on tangents. hahaaha...

gluck ya'll.

Hey BlinkyCat, your interviews sounded like mine. I got along great with the student interviewer but the faculty interviewer nitpicked through my whole application. Instead of the MD/MBA program we talked about the medical humanities program for almost half of the time. Somehow both of my interviews were nearly an hour. I have no idea how they each lasted so long. It makes me wonder though... would my interviewer really want to waste 20 minutes talking about something their school offers only to turn around and reject me? ...guess we'll find out. :scared:

it sounds like a lot of people had their applications nit-picked. i certainly did. my interviewer made it seem like that was the way drexel conducted their interviews. i too had a great student interview and i'm glad the guy was cool. some people on my day got asked some lame situational-type questions by their student interviewers. anyway, i'm gonna try and stop reading this thread. i have a few weeks left in my 6-8 week frame and i'm already getting like this dude here ---> :scared:

good luck folks.

my interviewer had not even read my application, not a single word of it. I think his computer system was down that day. And I must mention that most of my interview was conducted in the OR, including the questions of why i wanted to be a doctor, why i wanted to go to drexel, what kind of specialty I wanted to pursue and why I did not retake the MCAT. Finally in his office he asked if I had any questions and then just when I thought we were done, I was thrown, so what do you think about our healthcare system? I do not think he liked the answer of there being too many unisured people. Once I finally had my student interview (my faculty interview ran like an hour late) it turns out that my interviewer was her advisor and she kept raving about him! What a day...sorry this may be off topic, but I've been meaning to vent about this since 10.7! Tomorrow will only be the 3 week mark---why must time move so slowly!

i left at 7:45am from a hotel that is supposedly 16 minutes away from Drexel. Of course, I went on 95 North and I was supposed to go 95 South. 95 South was not moving at all, i ran out of gas, and had to take the backroads. I really stink at driving too, which made it that much more stressful. I called the admission office and they had to direct me all the way to the campus. Totally crazy morning. I hope they dont secretly mark down that I missed 15 minutes of the presentation. That would be a bummer. 🙁

Any new acceptances?

Cozmosis said:
Does anyone know what the acceptance envelope is like? Thick, thin..?

Tigress said it was thin. I think thats good. that way I wont know whether its a rejection of acceptance until i open it! 😀

No mail here from Drexel. I got the postcard a while back saying I was complete... and nothing since. 🙁

so i called drexel AGAIN today...

interview on 9/28...and getting annoyed. they said the committee didn't meet this week because of the holiday? So the committee considers halloween a major holiday?

what the...?

I think there was a Jewish holiday this week. Not sure though.

People who observe sukkos (sp?) were not able to work tues and wed.

That's weird. I interviewed on 9/30 and when I called on Wednesday, they said that my decision had been made on 10/20. I think tigress interviewed on the same day as me and her decision was made as well. Not sure what is going on with your application. But you did get accepted to Temple, so that's a plus 🙂

Cbt81: When did you interview at Drexel and when did you get your decision?

Maybe they observe All Saint's Day, we used to get the day off for that back in college. My first semester, I remember getting a day off for Immaculate Conception Day 😕

Also, Drexel told me that they are not sending out decisions via a campus mail system. So, I have no idea what is taking so long! I hope that no news is good news at this point. I am so worried :scared:

not to bring any bad luck into this thread or anything....but what happens if the USPS loses an interview invite/acceptance letter....and then you never get back to them in time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I imagine a whole lot of red tape and craziness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah i think mine is taking a while because satan was my interviewer....and he decided to write one letter per day on my evaluation...just cause he thinks its funny...

i don't even like drexel...except for PIL...but i still don't like drexel...and this isn't helping

I'm replying to bump this thread, because I'm really wondering what's going on with Drexel.

As far as the above: as I said in another thread somewhere, my husband applied to med school twice. The second time he was in his Drexel interview and the interviewer asked him how his interview the previous year had been. My husband said "I didn't get an interview last year," and the interviewer pulled a copy of the letter from his file. Apparently it had gotten lost in the mail! (He's at Drexel, MSII, now)

And lest you think this is a fluke, my best friend is a first year at Einstein. This past January the 15th rolled around and people on sdn were getting decisions from them. My friend didn't hear. I told her she should have, but she was just waiting around. Finally a few weeks later I convinced her to call them, and they told her, "Oh, you were accepted! You didn't get the letter?" It had gotten lost in the mail. She went and picked up a copy of the letter from the office.

Of course, "lost in the mail" could mean many things. I almost lost my Drexel interview invitation because the mailman sticks all of our letters inside junk mail fliers and things. I've lost bills that way; even when you look carefully sometimes you don't get through every page of the crap mail. At this point I check everything that comes like 3 times before throwing it in the trash

Oh yeah, I should mention that I interviewed 9/30 and haven't heard anything. And unless something has changed in the past few years, acceptances come in a regular envelope.

As far as the holiday thing, Drexel itself didn't observe any holidays last week. But if somebody on the committee was a religious Jew, or potentially observed All Saints Day (what is that anyway? and when?), then they might not have met because of that.

Im just surprised that only a handful of people heard already. I thought they send out decisions in batches.

I interviewed on 9/20 and still haven't heard a damn thing.

Interviewed 9/19 and I've heard nothing

When? When!!!??????? +pissed+

Was anyone able to check their mail today to see if Drexel sent anything?

beponychick, not me, I'm at work (can't you tell I'm working hard? ). But this is too weird. Drexel has told many people that they would hear, and yet people aren't hearing.

yeah, im working hard also 🙄 I probably wont get home until 11pm or so tonight so I am usually the last one to hear of any news via mail. So im hoping someone on here would be able to post!

What percent of the people interviewed get accepted?

I think about 1/3. Someone correct me if im wrong.

actually, if i recall correctly, it's much higher than that at around 50%. I believe the US News site said ~800 accepted out of ~1500 applicants.
