BlinkyCat...when did you interview?

Guys I received an email from Drexel in response to the email I sent regarding my status. The email was sent this last Monday and said that a decision was made regarding my application and a letter was sent out by regular mail. I haven't received the letter, any idea what could be going on? I don't want to fly out to wayne state if I got the acceptance at Drex.

nothing to worry about, my interviews were very stress free......i personally did not shuttle over....i think 2 ppl did out of our group? (it was a large group)

Did they ask any healthcare/ethics questions? Or was it mostly personal questions?

i remember talking about healthcare, but i think i may have somehow brought it up and then continued to talk

for the most part it was personal, but i'd be safe and make sure you know your healthcare/ethics stuff anyway.....but i doubt they'd drill you past a question here or there

I have read up on most of healthcare issues. As far as ethics is concerned, I think there is no right answer and as long as I defend it nicely, it should be fine.

What I find weird is that the student interview is during lunch. I imagine it would be kinda hard to eat when being interviewed for something that will affect the next four years of life.

what you do is buy a lunch you can take out, like a wrap, and if you have an earlier interview you can eat it when you go back downstairs and have to wait for everyone else

or you can eat it during the PIL thing afterwards, which you don't even have to stay for

i myself ate during the interview not knowing i could just save it for later, and it was kinda weird, but not terrible

Just be yourself, relax, and have a good time. My Drexel interview was fun because it was my most social one (i.e. I interacted a lot with the other interviewers and also students at the school). Got to know a lot of names, faces, and backgrounds 🙂

I felt my actual (faculty) interview, on the other hand, was sort of not-that great... I got stumped by a really simple question and in retrospect I just laugh about it. The question was, "Name a positive about medicine", and the way it was worded must have confused me because I never thought about it in quite those words. So I sat there sort of bewildered, but after the interview while ruminating I came to realize that this was another way of asking me "why medicine?" And then I regreted that I hadn't handled the question well, and I wished I could go back in time and answer with "Because medicine lets you make a big difference in someone's life"

Anyway, Drexel's my first acceptance 🙂 🙂 so the point of this is that even if you get a brain freeze mid-interview, don't be too harsh on yourself. And again, just be yourself and have a good time!

This is actually a pretty neat idea, and personally I'd be thrilled to talk to prospective students in the future like this.

I found the lunch interview to be completely stress-free and very conversational. The only thing strange about it was seeing other interviewees scattered in the background with all their suits and ties on. We stand out, but you can sort of blend in if you take off your blazer / sportsjacket and loosen your tie (which is what I did )

I wonder how the other guys from my interview day did... any of you out there? 9/30 represent? I know Tigress did well! gj dude 😀

Thanks ya'll !!! 😛 I just got back home from some preliminary celebration which will definitely follow by some serious partaaaaaay this weekend as I do have work at 8 in the morning boo 🙁 hahah

To those who are anxiously waiting. Here is some info. I interviewed with on 9/26. (with Bepony and CP Jones) Acceptance was made on Halloween. Postmark on the letter was 11/07, and received it today 11/10 !! I am in TX, so it took about three days to get here!. 🙂

Anyways..again thanks for listening to me getting mad at Drexel. I can't wait to be in the same class as ya'll!!!!

BTW, Wayne state was actually pretty impressive. I interviewed there also, and in my personal opinion, if you're interested in helping the underserved community, Detroit is a good place. I actually liked Wayne state too....🙂

Oh yea, for the lunch interview with student, I was so hungry that I didn't really think of it as an interview. It was more, talking to a friend. I ate during my interview, and my guy was really nice. I accidentally ordered the EXACT same thing he did. It was freaky. I was kind of embarassed because he probably thought I was trying to copy him.... hahahaha 😛

It worked out great. I talked during the first half of the interview where he asked questions that he had to ask. After I answered those. He hit me with some more clarification questions and then I asked him questions. While he was answering I ate. It worked out really well.

i think the format is that it's supposed to be like lunch with a friend.

Both of my interviews were very laid back. The faculty one was very laid back and we talked about our families and all. Student one was nice, the girl I interviewed with was very friendly, although I gave her a really stupid answer to one question 😉 Lunch wasn't really awkward either.

they either sent you a rejection or acceptance. there is no way to tell until you get the letter. the admin people aren't allowed to say.

many people have been told a decision was sent and didn't actually receive anything for some time after (some of them are still waiting see benfolds 21 story if i remember correctly). good luck but be patient and welcome to the rest of the group who are still in drexel limbo.

i just got back from my UVM interview and i just HAD to post (yeah its 1:10am).

Blinky and crazycav, congratulations!!!! im so excited for you guys!!! And yes, I do remeber Blinky. You were the other person from Penn who was in wharton right?? (oops, am i giving too much away?).... thats soo wonderful but i figured you would hear good things from them. you have a very different background than most applicants.

i was thinking.....since my interviewers don't seem too keen on handing in my reviews...would it be a good idea to send some LoRs to them? idk how quickly this can be done, but i can give it a shot!....or maybe a letter of interest? but idk what i'd say

CP, i think your interviewers already probably made a decision. I would wait until you hear something (should be within the next two weeks or so) and then, if its anything but an acceptance, you can send stuff in. This totally sucks I know. But good things come to those of us who wait. You'll see! 😛

nah, they really can't tell anybody. I called and was told they had made a decision and would be sending me a letter. No hint on what the decision was. Then I got an acceptance letter 🙂

I was in the same situation with a school i interviewed at yesterday. I was going to choose drexel over that school and save myself money traveling and taking time off from work. But when I emailed, I did not get a response. I think in this process, we just have to take advantage of every interview we have and go to those interviews until we have an acceptance in hand. There is really no way to beat the system.

say what!!!???? that's cool, was it a small plane, or are you just that cool that you can go around all federal regulations, such as Rule XVIaa in Section III of Book 12 of the Federal Aviation Code, which states "no one can sit next to the pilot, especially pre-meds as they cause the greatest flight risk"

You probably used your law knowledge to get around that well-known law

but i was thinking, i really don't think they've made a decision, or will make a decision on my app for a couple weeks....in which case, if someone could write a LoR for me by then, it would at least show my interest? and even if they do make a decision by then....wait, or i can save my LoRs in case i find the need to appeal any bad decisions!!!!! yes, genius, mwahahahaha...

No silly, I sat next to a pilot who wasnt flying...He told me EVERYTHING about flying a plane. He was awesome!!! I always said, if Im not going to be a doctor, im going to be a pilot! Totally a highlight of my trip!

Thanks Tigress. Im actually looking at the bright side of all this. If I found out that I got accepted to Drexel, there would probably be no UVM interview, and hence I would not have met my pilot. so I think it worked out for the best. lol.

I am new on SDN, at least at joining, I have obsessively read it for months. I was also at the 9/26 interview, accepted 10/31, got the mail 11/10. I remember that guy from PIL too. I think he was from New Orleans (I could be way off). I was one of the two girls that went to Center City for the interview. Are ither of you the other girl? This is too cool! Maybe I will see you next year...

i was at the PIL thing, i was sitting next to the guy.....i asked him where he was from b/c i thought he was from italy at the end

i still have no idea who you are, i don't think i'd remember, unless you did something like come in late..... 🙂

I think Tigress tried and she was not successful. I personally interviewed at Drexel but have not heard a word from Temple. I guess it doesnt hurt to try.
