Drexel Waitlist Thread

I don't understand why the school is taking so long compared to other schools... Its really such an agonizing wait..

i feel your pain. the drexel adcom is notoriously very slow and takes forever to process their applications. also, i know that this past weekend ppl were still being accepted to drexel, so until all those ppl get their acceptances, the waitlist won't move (i.e. at least a few more weeks).

i've been told by the admissions director that the waitlist will eventually move but i've also realized that she has no obligation to tell me the truth, nor does she know much since she's not on the committee herself. after more than 2 months of expecting the waitlist to move "in a few more weeks" my advice is just to try your best to forget about it, agonizing over it just makes the wait worse.

It is officially July. Hopefully, SOMETHING will happen. I mean everyone who has been accepted must have made their decisions by now..

It seems people have not posted in this thread lately. I guess everyone has given up and moved on.

I'm also taking the MCAT in a week and I was hoping to hear from the school before the test, but I don't think that will be the case. Maybe if there's a miracle..

everybody who gets an outright acceptance has 21 days to respond, so it's not necessarily true that ppl have already decided if they were accepted in the last <3 weeks..

i just came back from the admissions office and the waitlist still hasn't moved, that's why i don't think anybody has posted lately- there's nothing new to post. if there's movement in the next month, i'm sure you'll hear about it..

wow... this is nonsense. Drexel should just tell us that the waitlist is not going to move so that we don't have false hopes... pretty upsetting how the school is handling this...

you could try calling the admissions office and asking them what's up w the waitlist.. maybe they'll tell you something they're not telling me 😳

Admissions told me that it has not moved yet.
I asked if it is even going to be move and he said "it probably will be"...

same response i got.. sorry 🙁
i guess an upside to them taking so long is that they're gonna probably notify ppl by email or phone rather than snail mail because class starts in about a month, so if they let you in, you'll know right away 🙂

expect the worst, hope for the best....the waitlist has no guarantees. I'm not being blunt to hurt you in any way, but if you think of all the work schools have to do to fill the class (screening so many thousands of apps, interviewing 2-4x class size, then deciding on those interviewees). and then drexel has the added constraint of not going over their accredidation of 255. i think drexel has probably done as best as they can in their 'situation'.

from what it sounds like on this thread and factoring in their fear of the numbers, there's probably an overly healthy waitlist as well. so, your (anyone's i mean) chances of moving off the waitlist are greatly diminished (say 1 of 500 instead of maybe 1 of 200 - just throwing out numbers). who knows how many lottery balls will be picked out of that pool. i know it stinks being in limbo, but good luck to you all.

the wailist has no guarantees. expect the worst, hope for the best.

I just got an acceptance. I interviewed in March. This was a straight acceptance. I was on hold for this entire time. It's my first though! And it came when I was recovering from having my jaw wired shut (litertally in the PACU) from a stupid bike accident, so it made for a good day. Just to tell everyone keep up the hope!

a new week..

if arnabio just got outright accepted on saturday, then they're still not going to move the waitlist until ppl like him respond.. i would expect at least another week or two before/if the waitlist moves, drexel is taking their sweet time 😡

so i just got a private message from someone who was waitlisted on 5/15, and accepted off the waitlist 6/28.. don't know if the admissions director/office is lying, or if that person was just an exception.. any ideas?

If it was some kind of exception, I wonder what special circumstances it takes to be pulled off the list....

My guess was that it was probably an administrative error that they corrected later by issuing him the acceptance that he or she deserved. Or, maybe they were lagging behind in reviewing post-interview applicants and wanted to give some sort of contact before issuing their final decision. I know that it took them 16 weeks after my interview for my file to even go to committee. This sounds like a legit acceptance, and not wait list movement....that is, of course, provided this person is telling the truth.

To everyone I say keep your heads up...it will move soon. I can't imagine that ALL the spots are going to be filled for this class. Considering what happened last year, I have to believe that they were more cautious this time around.

i just called to check and no waitlist movement yet. The lady cut me off when I was trying to ask when movement was expected. rude.

Yeah.. I don't think it will move yet. Maybe 2 weeks from now...

My adviser from Drexel (he's the dean of the post-bac program) told me that the waitlist has just started to move. He stays in contact with Ms. Kennedy so he's a reliable source. Good luck yall

That sounds like good news! I hope we start hearing from them soon!

yea that's great.. anybody get any good news yet?

Here's to the good news. I just hope its not by mail.

Here's to the good news. I just hope its not by mail.

the person i talked to who was accepted off the waitlist actually said they only notified her by snail mail, her status online went from "thank you for accepting a position on the waiting list" to "a final decision has been made," but they wouldn't tell her anything more over the phone.

Sounds like we're going to be hounding the status check site. 😳

Just came back few hours ago from taking the MCAT...
Is anyone hearing any good news?

so i called the admission office, and was told that waitlist is not moving. Now i'm really losing hope, i mean less than 20 days remaining. I doubt this year is going to be any different.

Did the admissions office say that it hadn't moved yet, or will not move? I get really frustrated when I hear two conflicting reports. Anyhoo, don't lose hope!

in general, ive found that admissions offices tend to be vey helpful. drexel's, in so much as i have interacted with them, has been especially courteous and enjoyable to interact with. im suprised they're causing this 'loss of hope' feeling.

Don't despair. Schools routinely accept people the week before classes begin. No school can economically justify leaving spots empty and some students do withdraw right at the end. Just be ready with a response as to whether or not you want the spot. Good luck to all.🙂

Did anyone else get a call from a woman named Kelli Kennedy in the admissions office today? I called back but only got her answering machine, and the secretary said she went home sick for the day. Is this good news!?!? How are they contacting people?

Sounds like good news to me. I doubt they'd call to tell you you're sitting pretty on the waitlist. did you check your status page? apparently thats been changing for people taken of the WL.

Got in! Phone call from someone in the admissions office, and my status changed online. Best of luck to everyone!

congratulations.. anybody else getting any good news?

congratulations.
I hope more people will be hearing soon...

It seems like there have been a lot of acceptances. Some have been accepted since 7/03/08 as read in the Drexel University 2012 thread.
I hope there are more spaces left.... sigh*

i don't think those acceptances on 7/3 were off the waitlist, but yea, they're acceptances nonetheless.. but it still seems like there were very few ppl taken off the waitlist, and this is probably not a reliable source but the facebook c/o 2012 group has only about 150 ppl (out of a 250 class size), many of which are not actually in the 2012 class.. so don't lose hope! (i'm not/can't at least haha)

haha thanks disqfish! You're so optimistic. You made me feel much better 😛

😀 anytime
i count only 2 ppl getting in off the waitlist on this thread, plus i know of about 2 others.. sorry to sound like a broken record, but is anybody else getting any news?

hmm.. I guess noone else has heard yet. I wonder if they're picking a bunch of people at one time or just one or two at a time...

As a note to those folks still waiting, my status page did not change until after Kelli Kennedy had called and I had accepted the spot in the class. So don't lose hope if your status hasn't changed!

Good luck to everyone. :luck:

I wonder what's wrong about us. Anyone want to play that guessing game while we wait? My premed advisor says it may look to adcoms like i've "made a rushed decision to apply to medical school," whatever that means ... perhaps i havent demonstrated to the adcoms enough passion for medicine ...

Yeah... I feel your frustration jult24er. This thing called hope is killing me... 🙁
