i think it depends on if all ur interviewers turn in their evals of u when they're reviewing ur file whether they can make a decision. there must be someone interviewing who routinely doesn't turn their eval in in a timely manner cuz i've heard others complain b4 about long waits 4 decisions and i guess it sux if any of u were un4tunate enough 2 have an interviewer like this.

when i was waiting to hear from them since october, they explained to me it was called something like "blocked" (i can't recall). i was told that "something" was missing from my file for months and months. i asked if a) the interviewers hadn't turned in my evals and b) if there was something missing on my part -- to both she said "no." but she wouldn't say what it was that was missing. finally, finally, i was then told that my file was "still under review" or "was being reviewed," but this went on for months as well. all in all, the whole situation was really fishy.
anyway what i'm trying to say is, just hang in there and don't put in too much faith into what they are saying is going on or not going on with your file. they are just atrociously behind. in retrospect, i think they probably made up that term "blocked' to make them not look less like they're atrociously behind, especially because i've never heard of it before and haven't heard anyone say that's happened to their file before.

heya red dot, thx. that "blocked" status comment is funny, sounds like someone's has a bowel obstruction or sth. actually i called last week about sth else and they said a decision had been made but the letter hadn't been generated yet...i'm anxiously hoping 4 a big envelope this week but the dude on the phone didn't sound 2 excited when he told me, so dunno. can't concentrate with the waiting. so where r u going? i noticed u dropped ur acceptance 2 drexel.

I actually just called Drexel today and the lady said that the ADCOM had cancelled their meeting last week and that they're meeting TWICE this week. My file has been complete for awhile according to them, and now about 10 weeks post interview, I hope it is reviewed this week.

OK so exactly WHEN is Drexel going to get to their waitlist!? It seems like they are months behind and wont begin accepting off waitlist until July but at the same time I see people dropping their Drexel acceptances left and right...Ive pretty much forgotten that Im even on their list..they arent making the best impression, especially for applicants who are worried if the administration can efficiently handle the 200+ students that matriculate..

Amongst all the number crunching I've done, I've never been able to find for schools a % for number of acceptances granted to number of students who actually matriculate. I know undergraduate schools have numbers that have been pretty constant for decades (at least at Notre Dame), so I assumed medical schools were similar. Has anyone found any information on this?

One other sliver of hope.....the AAMC reccommendation of increasing class size....I'm still clinging to that. 😀

the secratary on the phone said "a decision has been made" in probably the most indifferent voice I have heard (not rude or anything, just monotonous and indifferent), and as probably intended, I have no idea whether this is going to be a rejection or an acceptance or that "purgatory" of a stage in between. This was probably asked before, but I wonder if the secratary has given a bit of a hint or anything (by tone of voice or suggestion) to callers who have eventually gotten in. Am I thinking too much into this? Good luck to m1prsche and the rest of you waiting...hopefully you all will find out soon as well!!

don't bother with e-mailing them...they usually don't respond...sad, I know. Just call them at 215-991-8221 and just keep holding till the message forwards you to a real person...and then ask them the burning question.

Thanks so much for your good wishes!!! I am hoping for only this one acceptance (none others as of yet), and come next week, my mailbox and I will be good friends. Of course, it'll be my best bud if I see a large white envelope peeking out of it next week.

I interviewed on 3/22. I wouldn't email them, they don't respond. You should call the admisisons number and then stay on the line until a person answers and not press the "check app. status" option.

My interview was March 24. I called Wednesday and they were supposed to mail mine out Wednesday as well (waiting for the Dean to sign it she said). Being that I live in Pittsburgh, I should know either today or tomorrow (I should hope so). Good luck to you.

I interviewed back in January and called them two days ago asking about my status. They said the committee would be reviewing my application this week 😕 Anyway, hopefully I'll be hearing something soon as well 😀

Drexel is so ridiculously slow....at this point, ive learned not to expect anything from them so when their admissions office actually comes through with any information at all, its a miracle...i guess when you interview thousands of students for a class of 250, its bound to happen

I know they are slow (dealing with them as we speak), but it just seems strange that there are a handful of posters besides myself and M1prsche who had interviews around march/april and have been told the adcom came to a decision, while interviewees back in January haven't been looked at yet.

Mail came today, and I got nothing. You think they would have gone from Philly to Pittsburgh in 3 days. If I have nothing on Monday, something is definitely fishy.

As a side note...do you think that Drexel being late and slow might have helped us/hurt us/no difference? My reasoning is that as May 15 came and went, they had a few "extra" spots to fill...at least I hope so.

Yeah, nothing today here either. 🙁 I actually felt around inside the mailbox and when I didn't feel a large packet inside, my heart started to race (much like it did for the past two days as well). TCIrish, if you live in pittsburg and have heard nothing yet, then I'm not sure when m1prsche or myself will get the decision (us cali folks). And sure enough, I will definitely post as well as soon as I hear something.

I was also kind of hoping that since May 15th has gone by, Drexel will now have more spots open that they are certain of. I feel confident about this at times except when I reach into that darn mailbox. Do you TCIrish or m1prsche have any other allopathic acceptances as of yet...Drexel would be my first if accepted and that is why I'm sooooo on the edge of my seat.

Well, I just got my letter today...and it arrived in a nice small envelope... 🙁 I was placed on the waitlist...I guess I should be happy that it's not a rejection. So that puts me on two waitlists (SLU and Drexel), and unless I get off of one of them, it's off to St. George's for me. Anyhow, it's back to dreaming for me once again...
