Hey guys, my mom went to get me an apartment at Drexel yesterday! She said the school looks absolutely beautiful! I am curious if the reason the waitlist is not moving at Drexel has to do with the upgraded facilities that increased retention? There are plenty of waitlists that had and have heavy movement. Hopefully, Columbia, Harvard, UCSF, Duke etc. start to go through there waitlists so that the waitlists at all the other medical schools start cranking!!

Hehe, I thought about the whole caribbean mention and the fact that that is in fact my backup. I'm pretty much set (housing, financial aid, etc) to go to St. George's in the Caribbean if this and SLU's waitlist don't move.

There are times where I lose all hope and then I see people on this website getting off waitlists. i.e. I just noticed that Vizsla, a SDN member who is also waiting for Drexel just got into VCU (Congrats BTW!!), and other people who just received their first acceptance, keep giving me hope. I guess I'm already uneasy thinking about med school waitlists everyday, but if I decide to lose hope, than I will get depressed.

Also, a side thing, moving to a caribbean is a whole another lifestyle change. I honestly don't mind this (that's why I applied to SGU), but I worry about things like finding the right foods that I can eat (intolerant of wheat flour...crappy disease) and being able to get meds regularly and supplies for my insulin pump (Type 1 Diabetes) and other less-critical adjustments. Sorry for making this the "learn more about Kitt9000" post, but not having to worry about stuff like this would just make my main goal, studying medicine, alot easier.

I know many of us may be on meds and have other issues that would make living away from civilization tougher, so it's probably not just an exclusive thought.

But then again, after a while, one can get used to pretty much any environment, especially a tropical island (unless it really is at risk for being overtaken by pirates or something).

Anyhow, sorry if I bored you guys...but let's keep on rooting for the whole Drexel acceptance thing... :luck: :luck: !

thanks kitt.. i wish i could tell you what my secret was but frankly i was in the same mindset you are in now....you have a few wks left so keep hope alive!! and if it doesnt work, then go to SGU and study your a$$ off and be the best doc you can be bc as long as you have the grades and board scores, it doesnt matter where you go to school. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! :luck: :luck: :luck:

Hmmm....I don't get it CP. Maybe I'm just slow today. 🙁

So, I called our beloved Drexel today. The lady on the phone was really nice (a plus). After sounding a bit desperate on the phone (so i think), I asked her how the waitlist has been moving. She said that there has been waitlist movement every day this week and people have been withdrawing every day as well. Of course, I'm thinking that on SDN, we havn't seen much movement really. She also said that last year there was good movement of the waitlist till the end. She said that the waitlist can move anytime between now and August 10th, when school starts.

SGU, where I'm headed this fall if Drexel doesn't give me the call of a lifetime, doesn't start until the 21st, so I'm ok while waiting.

So.....it seems to me that there is enough reason to keep hope alive seeing as the waitlist is expected to move.

Darn, I just wish I didn't sound so desperate (but I am). Oh..us poor pre-med students... Good luck again everyone! :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck:

What % of the applicant pool do you think posts on here? I'd say less than 1%

Yeah, it's been awful quiet. I guess it's pretty much over for this year. 🙁

I don't want to think that, but yes, so far...there has been no one moved off the waitlist from SDN besides 3 posters, and that was a while ago.... 🙁

Let's keep on hoping... :luck: :luck:

Well, I guess it's not completely over. Someone posted on the Drexel Class of 2010 thread that he got a call from Lisa Cifelli today offering him a spot. Not getting my hopes up, however ...

More like cruel and unusal punishment. 🙁 There has to be a better system ...

anyone heard of anything recently?

Yeah, no recent posts from the Drexel SDNers. Technically i suppose there is still a chance of a miracle happening ... i think Drexel's orientation doesn't start until Friday. But i think most people have probably given up on hearing from Drexel. I have. Concentrating on getting my secondaries out for the 2007 cycle.

I have a friend who was offered a spot last wednesday. Good luck to all!

For those still waiting, I called Drexel today and the lady on the phone said that no one has withdrawn the last couple of days and that the waitlist hasn't moved much at all. 🙁 Looks like its pretty much over. The waitlist this year (on SDN anyways) at Drexel has been a joke.

Thanks for the info. I don't think it'll come as much of a surprise to anyone. I keep checking SDN to see if someone would get lucky and get in. No one has in over a week from what I've seen. Very few last minute miracles. Good luck down at SGU!
