i dont even want to think about how huge drexel's waitlist is.....

LOL. I'm afraid it's probably pretty huge. I don't think I've heard of anyone who received a declination letter after being interviewed. I think they just waitlist everybody. And considering how may poeple they interview ....
Oh, well ... amcas 2007 to be submitted shortly. Here we go again ...

that makes me happy 🙁

so, at this point, is it pretty much pointless applying to drex?

I know of a few people that actually got rejected post-interview at drexel...so it definitely happens. However, with the high turnover that I've heard about at drexel, I'm fairly certain that the waitlist is quite large...haha sorry for all of the vague terms.

Might as well get in the front of the line that will probably take them until september to start 🙄

i definitely wouldn't say hopeless. i waited for my august mcat scores before i applied and i was accepted

I know of 2 people just in the past WEEK that declined offers from Drexel (1 who was accepted initially, and 1 who was accepted off the waitlist in early June). So, there will probably still be plenty of spots opening up there.

I'm wondering if the ADCOM takes this into consideration: students that are holding acceptances elsewhere. Being that it is pretty late in the game, do they assume that an offer of acceptance to applicants already accepted somewhere else will be declined? So then they would accept people with no acceptances at this point.

I admit, wishful thinking from me

Based on raw numbers, yes, they interview alot of applicants, but only because they get about 10,000. Based on percentages (unless I read the statistics post earlier wrong), they interview right around 20% of their applicants, which is on par with most schools, excluding the Stanfords, Yales, etc

If Drexel had an average sized matriculating class, they would be statistically more selective than Harvard.

I've kinda given up hope. With no way of knowing where I stand on what is probably a pretty big waitlist, I'm not going to get excited by a couple of people withdrawing. Good luck to everyone. I hope a few of you make it. :luck: :luck: :luck:

I interviewed in April as well and e-mailed my student interviewer when I was put on the waitlist. He told me that was good news because last year they pulled a lot of students from the waitlist into the class in the month before school started. He sounded pretty optimistic. I also called Drexel this morning and the admissions office told me that they just started movement on the waitlist. Good luck.

I am sooo on the edge of my seat to hear anything from Drexel...I hope we hear about some SDN applicants being pulled off the waitlist soon!

I also emailed my student interviewer and she was really optimistic about my chances on the waitlist because she knew a few people who came off of it.

Well hopefully good things will come :luck: :luck:

I've been on the waitlist since January. I've tried sending emails to Dean Hanau along with a LOI and a brand new LOR and they haven't reply at all. I"m slowly losing hope for Drexel.

new poster here, but i've been following this thread for a while now...

i wouldn't give up all hope on drexel just yet, they have a rep for being incredibly slow with this stuff. for example, i interviewed in november, and didn't receive my acceptance letter until may

however, i will be withdrawing my acceptance in the next few days, so hopefully it goes to one of you!

Ahhh, thank you my friend, and good luck to everyone else.

Mind if I ask where you decided to go instead?

i chose to attend ohio state instead because it is much closer to home for me, and i also think a better fit overall

but i was also very impressed by drexel... good luck to all on the waitlist, i think it will experience a lot of movement, but just later in the game than other schools

I withdrew from Drexel's Waitlist GL to all!!!

I just wanted to say that my cousin got accepted into Drexel last year 2 weeks before classes started, and that was his only acceptance.

Just have hope, and he also sent in a LOI, and additional updates (including his final grades from the semester, and another shadowing gig.

good luck!

Don't lose hope everyone.

I was in the same situation last year. I checked these forums every single day looking for signs of waitlist movement. I had interviewed in January and been placed on the waitlist in April. The days went by, and I lost hope more and more. Finally, 2 days before the orientation I received my acceptance (talk about cutting it close). I also know of students that were accepted DURING orientation. So don't give up hope till the very end!

Happy to say, I have survived my first year and i'm officially an MS2. I have faith in you all, so good luck. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me =). Good luck once again!

Thanks for the hope. My concerns are more practical though, so maybe you could help us out.

How were you able to handle the housing situation on such short notice? Did you already have things lined up beforehand? Was there much availability in a good location? And I also assume that Drexel was the only school you got accepted to....so other than FAFSA, what were you able to do in terms of financial aid before you were accepted?

We're 3 weeks away, and it's cutting it close...I can't imagine how you did it in 2 days.

Well, luckily for me I actually lived in Philly. I was commuting to grad school at University of Delaware at that point, so it wasn't too hard of a drive for me. There are always people willing to help out. If you are accepted and need a place to crash, feel free to PM me and i can help out in terms of suggesting housing as well as offering a place for you to crash during orientation while you're getting stuff worked out. I was lucky enough that I lived close to Drexel at that point that it wasn't too hard to commute during orientation until i found a suitable place.

In terms of the financial aid, there was not much I could do to prepare. I would say a good thing might be to prepare your renewal FAFSA (assuming you're coming right out of another school), or start a new FAFSA for this year. Complete everything EXCEPT adding in the school code and keep it saved on FAFSA's website. That way, if you are accepted last minute like I am, all you really have to do is fill in the school code and submit. They'll explain all the financial aid stuff during orientation as well, so it wasn't too hard to manage with.

Any other questions, let me know =)

I know there would be a sort of panic of getting to Drexel at the last minute but at this point, I would be willing to do anything to get there that I'm not thinking about "if i do, then what?" TCIrish, I'm also from out of state (CA), and now you have me worried about last minute moving. 🙂 When it happens (if it happens), I'm sure the excitement of being a doctor will get you through anything (including the move).

THANKS so much PKSCrugby for your hope and you offer of assistance at this time. We're all so restless from waiting this long and knowing students' experiences from the past years is certainly of help.

I just heard back from Drexel this week, wait listed. I had an interview the day before I had one at Drexel and found out I was accepted that week so about a three month difference. I thought that was pretty weird. I was very unimpressed by how disorderly the whole thing was.

Congrats on your other acceptance and sorry to hear about the Drexel waitlist and your experiences hearing back, most of us can relate to that sadly. Are you going to be accepting your position on the waitlist at Drexel or have you decided to go to the other school for sure...just curious.

anoyne know how drexel notifies those they have accepted off the waitlist? email or phone call?

Trust me, I feel your pain. But I've resigned myself to the fact that it just ain't gonna happen this year. I guess last minute miracles happen, but I don't have that kind of luck. Better laugh than cry ... aamas 2007 already submitted ... there's always next year ...

Big fat congrats to you, Madonna!! :horns:

Now you know we neurotic SNDers won't let you get away without telling us how and when they contacted you. If you're an in-stater or out-of-stater, and all the other dirty details. Care to share???

Congrats again.

Good luck everyone!

Hey guys,

I´m also on the waitlist for Drexel, but I´m studying in Guatemala!

I changed my address, but didn´t think to give them an alternate phone number until recently... My cell isn´t really happening here.

So, any info concerning method of contact would be much appreciated.

Good luck to everyone.

I can´t believe I applied 12 months ago now and I´m still thinking about med school. Thank you Drexel. Wow.

Congratulations!! I was just wondering if you would be willing to tell me what your stats for MCAT or GPA are because I'm going crazy waiting to hear from Drexel and just want to see if I have any chance in hell of them calling me. If not, it's okay, but congrats again.

Thanks

You got a waitlist letter on 7/1 and an acceptance letter less than 2 weeks later??? Wow, are we talking about the same Drexel?

Congratulations, we are all insanely jealous of you.

How did they notify you ... mail ... email ... phone call???

i just talked to them, and they told me the waitlist has been moving (now, obvious for us) and that they will notify via email or phone.

i was afraid to ask for my own info b/c i've already done that b4 and they wouldn't tell me.....i have secondaries ready to send out, but i just don't want to do it!!!!

i was actually wondering, what happens if i send in my 2ndaries, the next day drexel calls, can i cancel all my checks? what would those schools do?
