I graduated with my bachelors in 2015 (biomedical science), applied to dental school and didn't get in so I called it quits for a while (I also applied my junior year but I definitely wasted my money - I had low stats for everything). I began working as a dental assistant after graduation and have been ever since - 3 years now. I have decided to re-apply this upcoming cycle. I did not take any classes for two years. Last semester I took Immunology as a grad student and this semester I am taking a grad level chemistry course that is already kicking my butt (I haven't taken chem in 3 years!). I am planning to retake my DAT this May and am wondering if it would look bad to not take a class this semester. There are no alternative classes that work with my schedule to take in replacement of this chemistry course otherwise I WOULD. I need to do really well on my DAT (this will be my third try) so I want to put all hands on deck. I also work full time.

PLEASE HELP/SEND ADVICE!

All depends on the schools are you going to apply to. Do you have a list?

So you are working and plan to work during the class or DAT studying? Are you still volunteering?

Edit: Will it look bad to not take a class this semester? Should I just go through with it and sacrifice a low B in my post-bacc GPA?

I don't have an official list. My stats other than my DAT are good. I got an 18 when I took it in 2015. sGPA: 3.6 oGPA:3.8. I've worked as a dental assistant for 3 years and have taught at a local dental assisting school for 1.5 years now. I plan to continue working and teaching (it's a Saturday only gig) while studying. I volunteer at a dental clinic once a month.

I think you should take time off work, or cut back on hours, take the class and study for the DAT. When would the class end?

The class ends the 24th of April. I am going on a medical volunteer trip April 30th in Costa Rica with FIMRC (foundation of international relief for children). And plan to take the DAT in May.

Well don’t register for it too early. Make sure you have a good window(6 months) in case you need to push the test back to Jun or July.
