Drug Testing Questions:

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yeah, believe it or not, it was a one time thing. I dont do it habitually and dont plan on continuing. Anyone know if they require you to get tested again? Probably before you start rotations right? Since i plan on staying clean im not too worried about the urine test, but more concerned about the hair test. Is THC detectable in your hair up to 1-2 years? Time to go bald huh? Better shave down there too^^

I think THC in hair is more like 6 months but I could be wrong. If you are telling the truth and honestly have only done it once though I believe it is going to be harder to detect.

It's pretty rare for places to do the hair test, if you havent smoked in atleast 2 weeks leading up to the drug (urine) test and it was a one time deal then you are fine.

Okay we all want to know if the school cut you for smokin weed... Spill it cheech...

Remember, right-handed men don't hold it with their left. Just one of those things.

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone knew when they drug test you for admissions? Is it before you start the semester or before u offically accept the college. This is important to me because i like green too much so i need to know when to say goodbye.

 If you like it that much it might be too late already ...

Do they just do urine tests?

the only school i've heard of doing this is LIU in NY. otherwise you WILL be drug tested for rotations.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Amazing. Are you really asking us when you should stop using drugs?

This raises an interesting point.

This year or next, we'll be voting in California, via our la-de-da Proposition voter-driven system in a special election whether ye olde Sticky Green should be legalized and sold at a convenience store like cigarettes (Much more dangerous than Marijuana) or alcohol (See Cigarettes).

Will Pharmacists, Physicians, and other "High Profile" careers be ineligible to enjoy the legalized marijuana, I wonder? And really what makes marijuana so much worse than alcohol really, besides its difficulty in testing or the fact that scientists in the 1920s (We all know that science in the beginning half of the 20th century was the pinnacle of science), paid by the government and a fledgling Philip-Morris, "decided" marijuana was "bad" and "anti-American"?

While I don't agree with Op's methodology, as Marijuana is currently illegal, I still think it's interesting to chat about.

I really can't stand you hippies and whats worse is the excuse they give for smoking it: dude weed comes from the earth man, like apples cherry's mannn, you losers

Alcohol is equally as dangerous. I would want that banned, too :) at least until people could learn to do it moderation and not have to drink everytime that they go out to have fun. So much of our cultural events involve drinking. It is rather sad. There are more alcoholics in this society than we would like to admit.

Didn't turn out well the last time they tried that :p

Make it all legal and if people want to ruin their lives, so be it.

At least you could possibly eliminate the contingent of people who do it just because it's illegal / bad.

And add tax $$ so our state isn't so broke

Yea... I'm thinking if we vote Marijuana in this year, it'll be taxed more heavily than cigarettes are. Fine by me, you gotta pay to play.

Our state would be less broke if we didn't ear-mark so much damn money to a "bullet train" connecting Sacramento to Los Angeles.

Too bad the excise tax in Cali on cigarettes is only $0.87 ... one of the lowest in the country. Connecticut tacks on $3.00/pack from just state taxes  NYC is $4.25/pack with state+city taxes (city is $1.50/pack).

Cali's weak on cigs!

You have a point and have given me something to think about- legalize it all (including prostitution) and let people ruin their own lives while taxing the **** out of it. Hmmm...why not? I think prostitution should definitely be legal, but that is a whole other discussion.

Yeah- prohibition didn't work out at all and it gave rise to a lot of organized crime. But, it also contributed to womens liberation from the Protestant Victorian Era via speakeasies, jazz, etc. Interesting period in history if you ask me :)

I'm still living in the victorian era. Don't ruin it for me! :nono:

j/k

The state is, but individual cities are not. I was at a convenience store in Corte Madeira when I was at a book signing last week and cigarettes were $6.99/pack for Marlboro Red.

I keep track of the prices because I'm a smoking cessation counselor, and it helps to rattle off pack prices.

but yes, as a state, Cali is very weak.

Yeah, I've got no problem with prostitution being legal, provided that, like in Las Vegas, all the "Sex workers" have to be registered and undergo routine venereal disease checks.

I think sin taxes are a great idea but I'm still rotflmao @ the OP.

You have no idea how many times I rushed to class over the summer after getting stuck behind someone in the gas station arguing over the new Florida tobacco tax. I give much praise to the state though. Can't stand cigarettes. I have a friend in Breckenridge where marijuana is also decriminalized, but I just can't see myself inhaling anything into my lungs... plus I can't stand being tired. I wouldn't smoke it if it was legal, but I'd be happy to see the state making money off of pot heads who would be happy to pay and not worry about legal actions.

I've always been a bit curious, and if it was totally legal with zero repercussions to us for trying it (Provided we're not at work, or whatever the regulations will be), I will/would try it once.

What make me a *****?

I have been told by my one friend (who was told by other friends) that it takes about 3 times before you feel anything. After trying it once she said that she didn't feel anything but when she tried it again she would tell me. I was like...well ok then.
I personally wouldn't try it even if you paid me because of the smell. Ugh.

Are you inherently paranoid? :scared: I've seen it do crazy things to paranoid people ...

Nope. Paranoia and Iraq don't mix.

Not even for the Blackwater guards?

I've never tried it either so I don't know what it's like. I've only seen what happens to other people... the paranoid people get soooooo insanely overparanoid that its almost amusing to watch sometimes (within a reasonable level of hyperparanoia)

I've actually seen people have full blown panic attacks... no thanks. LOL

The problem with that is a lot of drugs invite other criminal activity, not just self destruction.

This is true. I didn't feel anything the first time I tried it, but I think it was because I didn't know how to smoke.

Weed will kill your short-term memory and give you panic attacks. It also has just as many, if not more, carcinogens as cigarettes do. It can also trigger mental disorders in people who have genetic predispositions (like bipolar disorder).

Honestly, I don't give a **** what people do to their own lives- as long as it doesn't affect me or other people negatively. But, when I am walking into a building at school or wherever, I don't want to smell weed OR cigarettes. Then there is the whole issue of DUI which not only involves alcohol.

Quoted for truth.

The cancer thing is bad too... some people advocate the use of vaporizers, but I have no idea if it's better for your health, or if they just say that because it "concentrates" the THC . I don't even know if this is true and I have never used one to smoke anything so I can't speak on that topic.

I have to say smoking anything is probably the worst thing ever in my opinion so I've never been tempted.

It doesn't bother me that other people do it (I smell people smoking all the time in Miami clubs... for some reason no one cares to kick them out) and I know that I'm not going to get high or fail my drug tests just because they're smoking around me, but I do think that if it is legalized fully that there will be restrictions on it. I'm pretty sure you can NOT smoke in public in California or Colorado, so if you have a medical marijuana card you have to use it inside your own home. DUI laws will still apply, but I have to admit it is harder to do an on site test for intoxication like you can with alcohol. You can do a mouth swab like employer's often use, but that will pick up any drugs used within the past 1-3 days.

I think most laws are harder to change or implement the more they become ingrained in our history... historically alcohol has been accepted in most cultures and marijuana has always been demonized in the US, so it's going to be hard to find a clear cut way to make it acceptable to legalize/tax and also regulate for safety and health at the same time.

The purpose of vaporizers is to heat the plant to the temperature at which THC vaporizes, ~365 degrees Fahrenheit. The advantage of this over regular lighters, which burn the material at much higher temperatures, is that you're inhaling much less chemicals because they are being left behind in the ash. In theory it's healthier, but I don't think I've read if it's true in practice.

this is an ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS statement.

this makes sense. perhaps the most harmful part about smoking ANYTHING is the fact that you are inhaling carbon dioxide/carbon monoxide, which compete with oxygen for binding sites within hemoglobin (carbon monoxide actually has ~200x higher affinity for the binding site than O2). with a vaporizer i'm sure that less of the organic material is actually being oxidized and combusted into these hazardous compounds, thus making it better on the lungs.

I agree. How the hell would pot, which would ideally just be plant material with no additives, be more carcinogenic than the tobacco found in cigarettes? They add so many chemicals to that garbage it's ridiculous.

Also, it is known that marijuana stunts tumor growth...

Really now tell me why I am a *****? what because unlike you I think drugs like weed should always be illegal? what am I killing your high-on fun? NO you are a jackazz
He thinks you're a ***** because you think everybody that smokes pot is a hippie.

Hey guy it was a JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What is wrong with you people?

Yeah, alcohol doesn't invite any criminal activity either.

here's a question. Is the criminal activity because of the illicit substances, or are the illicit substances being illict the cause of the activity?

When we tell jokes, we include emoticons to help our fellow posters distinguish them as jokes.

Unfortunately there are a lot of closed-minded idiots around that DO think all marijuana users are useless hippies and that homosexuals do the devil's bidding, etc, etc.

Have to admit... I've never seen any amount of marijuana do the horrible things I have seen alcohol do to people.

And yes... illicit drugs are a huge source of income for many organized crime groups, and other tax evading, law breaking individuals.
