Hi all! So I'm not actually a pre-vet student...but my boyfriend is attending UCD and I had a question for anyone and everyone who can answer this or point me in a direction! I would really like to move out to Dublin and find a job (preferably in the Science field..but I'm not picky at this point), but I haven't really had much success. I was wondering if anyone had any advice(or even job websites or recruitment services)?? Or maybe a connection or an opportunity to network?? I am able to live and work in Ireland with my Irish Passport, so there is no need to get a work VISA or whatever. Feel free to shoot me an email or anything, I would very much appreciate any help I can get.

The job market is pretty ****e here right now, so that is going to be part of your problem. We have a recession just like the states. Many of the Irish are emigrating to the states for work as there is not enough here depending on the field. That being said if you are trying to find a job from the states here in Ireland you probably won't be able to - most companies are going to look at your CV, see that you live in the states, and not even bother interviewing you. If you are serious about it then move here and look for a job once you get here. Otherwise the normal job sites here, newspapers, and social networking - start social networking with the field of people you want to work with - look for sister companies in the states as well - maybe you have a connection there you can utilise. It is not easy and tbh they are more likely to hire someone from another European country before a US person.

Well thanks for the reply, first off! Not surprising about them not being receptive to my CV and living in the states right now. I figured I would have to take the leap over there to really get a foothold. I'm definitely working on looking for sister companies and I'm starting to reach out to network with labs, particularly at UCD. Thanks again for getting back to me!

Has anyone not heard back from UCD yet? My status still says N/A and I was just hoping it might have changed by now since its mid-June.
