i would round up and convert to scientific notation...i.e

5.5 x10^-1 / 2x10^2 or aprox 2.6x10^-3...

it takes but a few seconds to do it

it took me a few seconds to do it. you can too with practice.

I forgot to mention that even doing the easier ratio 5/2 instead of the 5.5/2 would probably be ok for the mcat. You still get 2.5 x10^-3...close enough.
