I was just wondering. Is it appropriate to ask an interviewer for clarification on the question he asks you?

Yes. You want to make sure you are answering the question they are asking.

Of course it's okay to clarify... I wouldn't say "you're crazy, you don't make any sense, you wacko" but clarification questions are fine...
