Early Decision at UAB

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If you know that's where you want to go... If not, I wouldn't.

If you're not accepted, you'll have another go at the same school. It will be late, but I'd still place your chances higher with those 2 interviews than a single normal one. Good luck 🙂

I had friends get into USA early decision with those stats. If UAB is for you I would go for it. They both said early decision seemed like it was less competitive than going through regular admissions.

Hate to be the bearer of bad new but unless they have changed the rules in the last two years you have to score at least a 30 the first time you take the MCAT. When I was applying a couple of years ago you had to have at least a 3.6 gpa and a 30 MCAT the first time you took it with no subsection below 10. Just do a little research and read the fine print before you do this, but don't worry, with a 31 and 4.0, you'll definitely get into UAB as a regular applicant as long as you're in-state.

Unless you have personal reasons for why UAB is the only school you can attend, then applying early is not a good idea. If for some reason you don't get accepted, you will be submitting applications to other schools in october which will put you at an extreme disadvantage. You have good enough stats to gain at least one acceptance somewhere if you apply early and broadly. I wouldn't jeopardize that by applying ED.
