1. Is it too late to apply for early decision right now? I just took my took my PCAT. The early decision deadline is 9/4

2. what is the acceptance rate for early decision applicant? my PCAT is 91 and GPA is 3.75, I have shadowed at two pharmacy but no actual work experience. And I have tons of volunteer & extracurricular.

3. If I don't get accept for early admission, can I still be accepted to the same school for regular admission? Do I have to apply to the same school twice?

4. PharmCAS institutions will make admission decisions on early decision applicants by 10/19. The regular admission deadline for some school is 11/1. This means that I won't have enough time to apply to other school in case I didn't get in, since I can only apply to one school as an Early Decision applicant.

Please answer If you just know a few thing regarding my questions, you don't have to be a expert on this. thanks

1. You can apply as late as the day of the deadline. Just make sure to get everything done, paid for, and get your LORs.

2. Varies from school to school. Best bet is to contact your school of choice to find this out.

3. Yes. This is called deferment. Sort of like "Well, we like you, but we only have X spots for EA. Come back with everyone else!" You could also be declined, which means it's a flat no, and resubmitting during the regular cycle is not an option.

4. If you do early decision, all of your stuff is saved on PharmCAS. After you hear yes/no/defer, it'll open back up for the last two and you can resubmit the same information to other schools.

Thanks, but does anyone think I should ask school about EA acceptance rate? I don't want leave them bad impression and hinder my chance of getting aceepted.

I have asked about it before, but unbeknownst to me it was Tech's first year on the program, so they had no precedent to go on. From what I've heard, everyone who was interviewed there for early decision was accepted.

I wouldn't even do early decision unless your heart is fully 100% set on that one particular pharmacy school. Once your accepted you CANNOT back out and decide to go to another pharmacy school, in other words, you must attend their school.

How is that even possible?

Early decision is good for me because the school I am applying to is the cheapest and If I get accepted I won't have to worry about what course I have to take for spring of 2013 since I only have satisfy to requirement for that one school. I won't have to do course scheduling gymnastic to satisfy 5 or 6 schools I a applying to. I also will save a load of application fee.

I applied for 2013 early decision but they just called me to accept me into 2012. So I have a week to prepare everything and get to school by next Wednesday which is the first day of the boot camp!

There was no interview 😀.

Mike Schwettmann just called me and asked if I am ready to go to school in a week. He said they were looking for a candidate from the early decision pool.

From what I gathered, my history played a big part in this.

I unsuccessfully applied during 2010. Low GPA and low PCAT.
Took a year off to improve both GPA and PCAT and went with early decision this summer.
Yes, some of you are correct in early decision that you cannot apply to any other school until you are rejected by Texas Tech, which you will find out sometime in October.
I was willing to risk it since I knew Tech was a top 30 pharm school in the nation and ranked higher than U of H and A&M.
Anyhow, Summer Balcer, the assistant dean at admissions, told me they thought highly of my effort to improve my application and my continuing desire to go to Tech were the reason why they decided to accept me early for 2012.

Some have claimed that early decision is a bad idea because they weed out so called "mediocre" students. I don't honestly know what that means but...
Again, both Mike Schwettmann and Summer Balcer told me something different. They said since they understand that people who go with early decision will be at a disadvantage point regarding how much time they have to apply to other schools, admissions have more leniency with grades and scores. 🙂

Anywho, good luck with all your applications. :luck:

Hello class of 2016 TTUHSC! 😎

You also have a better chance of being accepted.👍

ED has its pro/cons. The adcoms usually want to take the best students into their program and "bind" them that they can't apply or go to any other schools, so mediocre students usually don't have the best chance. While that is the case, if a particular school cannot get enough applicant pool "size" or so to speak, they can cancel their ED for that year any time. While you may be selected for an interview, if they take too long to give you an answer (if this is the worse case scenario, let's say rejection) then you have to quickly apply to other school as a regular decision. By then, schools that have rolling admissions will accept most of the applicants into consideration and you'll be late.

The good part about ED is if you are very confident that you want to go to the school and a patron, then it will save you a lot of time when you are accepted.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend it; I would just tell you to apply to other programs as well as this school to increase your chances. Submit your application early.

Hope this helps
