Earplugs

I read that mcat test centers don't allow people to bring in anything except for a pencil. How about earplugs? I am very accustomed to wearing them while I'm practicing. Do you guys know if they approve of them? or do they at least provide some headphones?

Depends on the center, the prometric I'm taking it at has these noise canceling earmuffs, but they are uncomfortable. They allow you to bring your own earplugs, but they have to be in a sealed package (unopened).

I would call the specific center and ask what their specific policy is.

The prometric center I went to gave me noise cancelling earmuffs. They worked really well, better than earplugs I used when i practiced. They can become painful so I took them off during the breaks inbetween sections.

All testing centers should allow you to bring a sealed package of earplugs. I would suggest the 3M 32 dB earplugs (http://www.amazon.com/3M-P1000-Ear-Plugs-Disposable/dp/B0078RRCO0)

I practiced with them and took the real thing with them and they are EXCELLENT.

I would call the prometric center to double check you can bring the earplugs but if they say you cannot, forward them the MCAT essentials pdf by AAMC because it specifically says you can bring them.
