It looks like they sent out acceptances and waitlists to everybody. A waitlist is basically a rejection, I think, based on what the letter says, for almost everybody, with a very small number of people filling unfilled spots.
I'm not handling it very well, actually. I had sort of decided that Einstein is my only option to go to medical school at all. So I may have to reapply next year or just decide not to go. It's purely a financial issue (I would have scholarship money to go to Einstein). So I'm pretty upset.
bubbleyum said:i'm so sorry tigress. but you can't wait a whole 'nother year when you have several other acceptances! i'm sure somebody will give you some scholarship money, maybe drexel. doesn't your husband go there? is your husband going to do his residency in nyc or something?
aecom is crazy to not accept you straight off anyways...
tigress said:Thanks for responding bubbleyum. I guess I mostly just have to get over this. It's hard, because my best friend goes to AECOM and kept saying that I would get in, and she almost convinced me 😛 My husband does go to Drexel, and I love the school (even though the reputation isn't great, which bothers me). My next option is to hope they might give me some money. Hey, my husband is paying full tuition, they could give me a break, right?
One main reason this is difficult for me is because I'm going to be having a baby the first week of August (God willing), so my plan was to defer a year from Einstein if I got in. But I might be able to pull off going to Drexel, since I know the curriculum (from my husband) and they have their lecture videos posted online, and it's a very accommodating school. So it's just hard not to know what to plan for.
I suppose the good news is that I like the curriculum better at Drexel anyway![]()

same here.thinknofu3 said:Hey there guys. I got accepted to AECOM, and reading all your posts makes me feel really bad, especially since its not my top choice. But, like I said earlier, know that there will be at least one spot opening up because I'm not even going to send in a deposit. Tigress, I wish there were some way I could give my acceptance directly to you, i would do it without a second's thought 🙁 But good luck to you guys, I'm sure there are plenty of others like me who will withdraw their acceptances. And, I don't mean this to sound at all patronizing - but I'm a firm beliver that everything happens for a reason. Hang in there.
tigress said:Gracey, I don't think they send out rejections until the summer. That's what the wait-list letter sounded like.
kesse said:actually, I was rejected. 🙂 oh well, makes the decision process easier.

So sorry to hear that. 🙁

Uegis said:Waitlist does not mean rejection! I remember a few people right here on SDN got off the waitlist last year. I was also on their listserv for a few months and received a lot of introductory emails from people who got off the waitlist. I am not sure how the ranking works, but it's not over yet. Keep hope alive

Sounds pretty rejection-ish to me. Oh well, atleast they made my decision easier.
