EK way to grade verbal

So I Know that EK says that after doing verbal passages, we should do more than just check the answer explanations. I'm just not sure what they mean and why it would take me a couple of hours to go over the passages when it takes me an average of maybe 15-20 mins to read over answer explanations and see why i got the ones wrong? anyone know the EK strategy!? explain please...!
