Eligible for Surgical CCM?

Does anyone know if there's anyway for a pulmonary critical care medicine fellow to qualify to take the surgical critical care medicine board exam? Is there any other board exam other than ABIM's CCM exam that a pulmonary critical care fellow can take?

I doubt it, given that the ABIM has its own CCM exam.

Very weird question, btw. The exams should be pretty similar. I personally would be afraid to hire an IM CCM graduate who's not board-certified by ABIM.

Well hell, just wait a year. I wouldn’t want to take the surgical one because I bet there is a lot of surgical complications and illnesses in there that an IM doc may not know.

He should just wait a year. It shouldn't make a difference, except maybe a few thousands in salary.

Nah, just saying ther is a difference in training and therefore most likely a difference in Board exams.
