I just took my PCAT September 18th, and my scores probably won't be in until 5 weeks later. The rest of my application materials are ready to be submitted to PharmCAS, so I am just waiting. Unfortunately my top choice school (UNC) has an early deadline in November, and I would hate to miss out on my chance of being admitted. I am also out of state and that might hurt my chances also.

I was wondering if I should contact and email my preliminary score to the schools with early deadlines and rolling admissions to ensure I will be considered? I have a 3.68 GPA with a B.S. in chemistry/biology, did research for several years, started working in a pharmacy in August, and I made a 99% composite.

You could email them a scanned copy, it shouldn't hurt. All schools I have looked at so far say their due date is the date you press submit on pharmcas not the date they receive it. Plus pharmcas needs to verify your gpa and its peak submitting time so that will likely take the max of around 5 weeks.

Btw I am in same boat as you. A little behind but not bad.

Since it's a busy time, I don't think admission committees will take the time to look at your email because in the end they still need your Pharmcas application. With your GPA and PCAT score, you don't have to worry. Just be patient and I am positive that you will definitely get interviews for the majority of the schools you applied to.

Oh I forgot to say lol. Just turn in your application and you will be in the application process for the school even though your pcat score has not been updated yet.

Hi chemkitten!

I am on the exact same boat as you! I couldn't believe our similarities either, your stats are a bit better I would say though! My first choice is UNC I have a GPA of 3.57 total [ science GPA 3.45, non-science GPA 3.68, math GPA 4.0] I have an Associate's Degree in Science and a Bachelor's Degree in Biology with minors in Chemistry, Psychology and Forensic Science. I have approximately a one year experience in Clinical Research and started working as a Pharmacy Tech in CVS in August as well. I took my PCAT on Sept 4 and scored a 90 composite.

I emailed UNC to see if they can consider my preliminary PCAT scores since my PharmCAS application had already been submitted and GPA along with LOR and revisions were done, I am only waiting on Official PCAT scores just like you and this is what they said:

"Thank you for your interest in the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy PharmD program. We will wait for PharmCAS to verify your PCAT scores before your application is reviewed. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Have a good day!

So I guess we just have to wait for scores to be verified.
Let me know how your application is going
What other schools are you applying to?

I'm applying to UC Denver, Regis, Seattle, USF, UF, and Nova. I guess I should just submit my application and play the waiting game?
