Hey, I'm stuck between choosing an undergraduate upper division animal embryolgy or an INTRO to cell bio course. If you could go back and take only one before dental school, which would you pick?

Thanks 👍

You should take the one that gives you the best mark.

I don't need a GPA booster at this point, so I figure I'd take a class for my major that will best prepare me for dent school.

I'll leave it up to the dental students to decide which will better prepare you. However, I personally loved embryology. 👍

neither...

both classes are useless for d-school (i took both and it was just overkill)

doubt it. take either, or both, you will definitely have to learn them first year anyhow. might as well get a head start.

Dude, everything you say is utterly stupid or just plain wrong. The #1 kid in our class was an English major that had taken just the pre-reqs and she is rocking all the exams. If you don't need those classes for your major, don't take them. Personally, I would rather kick back and enjoy the time I had off before d-school started.

Yeah, Intro to Cell Bio would help with a lot of biochem, but you'll have both of the classes in some way or another. I liked having a strong Cell Bio/Molec Biochem background, it's helped in some courses.

both classes are probaly overkill for most dental schools. take the one your most intrested in , or better yet take anatomy again

I've taken cell bio but not embryology, and I wish it had been the other way around, so you know what my advice would be! 😀

Do what i did and take geography. Undergrad should be a time to study things you want to study and get a good mark doing it. In dental school you learn it all over again. A lot of things are very useless. You just need to learn it for the test and forget about it. May be remember it for your boards, that's about it. The things you will retain as a dentist are the things you will be dealing with everyday. When you don't know something you can always look it up in a book. Fundamentals are the most important.
