hello all,
why does the essay that appears in the printed final form of amcas not have any paragraph formatting--ie no paragraph indent? I created spaces (double enter) between each paragraph and that seems to work but still looks inappropriate... any insight here?

That's just the way it is. Some things will never change.

Seriously, getting a blank line between paragraphs is more than many manage, so if you've done that you're better formatted than some of your peers. Don't worry about it.

Summary: FAQ: A Standard Open/Close: general personal statement
question
Details: To whom it may concerns:

I attempted to print out my application. I noticed
that there is no space or line between my paragraphs
despite I put a return to each paragraph. Just
wondering if the final version which the medical
schools see is the same as the printout version?

Sincerely,

Daniel Chen

Solution:
Dear Applicant,

Thank you for contacting AMCAS.

Please note that, because the Essay is in a straight text field, it
will appear on the printed application in block form, without formatting.
If the essay looks correct in the online application, and you are using
a required browser (please see "Required Browsers" on the AMCAS 2005
page), then this is how the medical schools will see it.

If you have any questions or if we can be of additional assistance,
