Any good news from Emory lately? I'm still impatiently hoping for mail up in the Northeast (interview mid Oct). Good luck all :luck:
 
The next round are scheduled for the 20th. Anyone know if that means that we'll receive them on the 20th, or will they just be sent out that day? I'm leaving town for Thanksgiving, so if they just go out on the 20th I guess I wont be finding out until the 25th 🙁
 
considering the last group was delayed, I'm guessing these will be too. I'm guessing they go out on the 26th and you get them around 1st-3rd of Dec
 
There should be no delay this time. They have their letterhead.
 
well they're sent out tomorrow, we probably won't receive them till fri/sat
 
Haha, they passed me by the first round, so I guess I'm just kind of letting it go. If I get hyped up and uber excited every month until March, it might just kill me....or the mail man who I would stalk. Though if I do get a big ol' envelope from them, there will be much happiness and celebrating.
 
Hey Text, did you talk about Soul Caliber during the introductions at your interview day?
 
do your chances go down drastically the second, third, fourth times around?
 
I've heard they go up because they trickle acceptances early on
 
Yes Masstransport...soul caliber is great. 🙂 Although, I'm really more a nintendo girl. My gaming has been taking a hit between traveling to interviews, work being crazy busy, and my learning to play MTG (for those of you non-geeks, that stands for Magic the gathering). I was in Daytona, FL for the MTG Grand Prix, man is florida nice this time of year compared to baltimore, haha.
 
anybody know if letters went out yesterday?
 
Nothing in the mail today... 🙁 Losing hope again for this round. (My home is like 40 miles away from Emory).
 
They went out yesterday. I just checked my mail, and booya! My first acceptance!!!!! (Dont worry if you haven't got it yet. My post office works really fast, and I live really close to Emory.)

Oh, hrdrck4evr, did Emory update your status page on their supplemental application website to reflect your acceptance?

They don't. There's a short blurb about it in the status page: "Unless you are invited for an interview, there is no status or decision update to report."
 
MassTransport is right. They don't update the status on the internet. My strategy is to bribe the mailman 🙂

Anybody else hear back yet? Emory seems to really be trickling these acceptances judging from the "official acceptance" thread.
 
yeah, anyone else get good news? i'm still hoping for mail today or tomorrow...i really liked emory too.
 
For those of you trying to figure out the timing of the mailings, I received my letter dated 11/20 on Friday 11/23. (I'm in NY, and my interview was in early November). I'm SO excited!!

Ah well, guess I'll give up home then since I'm in Maryland, lol. December is going to be a nerve wracking month it seems! I think I'm supposed to hear back from 3 or 4 of my schools that month 🙂
 
Over here in Texas, my letter came sometime over the Thanksgiving break. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So excited.

Was there a 2-week reply-by deadline that you missed? I wish they would tell us something every month instead of just sending out acceptances... congratulations by the way!!

Yes, there is a 2-week deadline, but this can't be my fault since I didn't get the letter until today... 😕.
 
Got my letter today! Though it's probably been sitting in my mailbox for a while as I was at real home over Thanksgiving and I just got back.

The waiting...arg the waiting...ARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGG. lol, I know I have no right to complain, at least they interviewed me! Still, it'd be nice to know that I'm IN somewhere before my parents come to the US and bug me about it over Christmas 🙂

Well, I'm really rooting for you. I hope you hear from Emory (or Hopkins) before Christmas so your parents won't bug you... I know all too well how that is :laugh:

Sigh..I guess I wasn't selected this round either... 🙁 I, too, would like an acceptance before the end of the year...oh well.
 
I'm wondering... if you didn't hear anything back the round after you interviewed, should you just give up until March? Has anyone heard of someone being randomly accepted in January or February after interviewing in October (without sending update letters, etc. in the meantime)? By the way, congratulations to everyone who has gotten in, but if you don't intend on going, have pity on us poor souls in limbo. 😀
 
I interviewed on 10/17 but didn't hear back until the November mailing so it seems like there's always a chance. I also know a few people who didn't hear back until 2-3 months after their interview, as well as someone who interviewed in October but didn't hear until March.
 
Haha, it's a little depressing to get passed up month after month. Sniffle...so unloved.

Month 1: Nope...not good enough
Month 2:...still not good enough
Month 3...???

It deflates the ego to realize every month that you didn't make the cut. True, it's not a rejection. But then again, a rejection only really stings once. This is more like recurring paper cuts, heh.

Did you send any letters or anything between the October and November rounds? congratulations by the way! 👍
 
I also interviewed in early November and didn't hear anything this month. There are still 3 more months left so don't get discouraged. If it makes all the people who are waiting feel any better, the roommate of the guy who hosted me interviewed in November and didn't hear back until January.

P.S. How awesome was the new med school building?

New building was BEAUTIFUL. Haha, did you see the lactation room? I thought it was kind of funny they went out of their way to show it to us..
 
They only mentioned/laughed about the lac room to us, never got to see it. One thing I wish we could have seen was the simulation room. They talked a lot about it, but never stopped there during our tour. Hopefully, acceptance letters will come our way so we can have the opportunity.
 
Did you apply to Pitt? Their simulation building is pretty impressive 🙂
 
Nope, I didn't apply to any PA schools. I have never really been a fan of Philly or Pittsburgh.
 
So... I came home this weekend from being out of town to a letter of acceptance from Emory. When I opened it up it was dated 10/29!!!! I called this morning (a little concerned since you only have 2 weeks to reply), and the woman said that they mailed it out in the first round. So apparently my Emory letter went off for a little post office party before coming to me... And to think... I could have had that birthday acceptance that I wanted.... yet another reason schools should use e-mail!!!
 
Haha, well I'm glad they still let you accept! 🙂 Congrats! I would love an Emory acceptance for Xmas 🙂 Though, a Hopkins one would be pretty sweet as well! Sigh...here's to hoping!
 
Congrats on the belated birthday present, LVBBBabe 🙂! It's weird that two people have had their letters go on a little post-office side trip... Maybe other letters have gone on a similar journey?
