opinions on how much did i screwed myself. i didn't have that great grades in my sophmore year (trying to find a major i liked), but i ended my UG strong, earning mostly A's in my last 2 years, most courses in science. the trend is there, but my sophmore year is dragging me down. after graduation, i worked full time in the same lab i did my thesis in, studied for the mcat and took it in august, followed by a grad class and a spanish class in the following fall semester. with no breaks. class started 2 days after my mcat. that semester didn't go well at all and i didn't accept that i was burnt out until after finals. i didn't outright fail the classes (C+ cell grad class, B- in spanish), but that was not definately not me that semester. I'm currently in 2 cell grad classes, and i'm on track to get both A's. i'll be more than happy to explain myself to the adcom, but i'm wondering how much did i screw myself with a sucky semester, and should i even bother reapplying? oh yeah, i only applied to one school (huge mistake), and got rejected. my mcats wasn't great (25Q), but i wasn't able to study as well. thanks.

You should retake the MCAT.
What is your cumulative undergrad GPA.
Yes, the C's and B- will hurt you, but a couple of bad grades are not a deal breaker.
I want to know how you did in organic chem, and in upper level biology courses.

The 25Q MCAT I don't think will be good enough for any US allopathic med school, unless the person had great grades, and probably is an underrepresented minority to boot. You might slip in to some DO schools with that MCAT score but would think you'd need a higher than average GPA to balance things out, which it doesn't sound like you have.

You need to get serious about your studies if you want to get in. You need a higher MCAT score and need to apply to 30+ schools.

I am definately not applying with the current mcat score, and I plan to retake it with better preparation.

I got a B in Ochem1, then A's in ochem2 and the lab course. my upper division biology courses has been almost all A's, except 1 B and 1 C, 14 courses in all.

Well, I had less than stellar grades my first 2 yrs of college. Then I got nearly straight A's through the last 2 yrs. Then I entered my post-bacc, and I got B-'s in both semesters of bio, & immunology + a C in Orgo II. I got A's in all the lab courses, and a B+ in Orgo I. My overall GPA ended up 3.45 BCMP 3.25ish

However, my undergrad degree was in engineering and at an Ivy league school, so some schools gave some credit for that.

My MCAT was 34T

I ended up getting into every D.O. school I applied to and 8 M.D. interviews this year. I don't know the outcome of my interviews b/c I withdrew after getting into USC.

Anyhow...if you pick up your MCAT substantially you can definitely get into school even if your post-bacc was worse, b/c it doesn't sound half as bad as mine 😛
