Whats your favorite energy drink? Did it help during exams?

Full Throttle and AMP, and it definitely helps me in exams!

I beat everyone else to it! My favorite, by far, is POWERTHIRST - it makes me UNCOMFORTABLY ENERGETIC. My favorite flavor is RAWBERRY, it gives me MENERGY.

For those who haven't had the pleasure, Powerthirst 2:

what about that 5 hour energy drink I see on tv??? that would be nice right now.

I have to go with Powerthirst (godberry, fizzbitch, and gun) in that order

Makes me feel like a fighter jet made of biceps, and I like winning at everything forever...so that's what I go with

😴 to 😱

hahahahahahah thank you so much for that.

"When god gives you lemons... YOU FIND A NEW GOD." That was my favorite

I used to drink the Vitamin Water stuff (esp their B vitamins one)... nowadays, I just drink green tea. I'm not sure how good of an energy drink it is, as it's got 1/4th of the caffeine of coffee... but I always feel good after I drink it, so it's a ritual now.

I refuse to drink energy drinks. I guess I'm boring. For some unprofessional reason I think the caffeine isn't too good for the heart. I love the kids I see walking around with Monsters and smoking on top of it. Haha, that's great.

Zero Carb RockStar! (blue can).

There are some energy drinks which are caffeine free also...

Well, it's definitely not crystal meth in a can--and it's not really an energy drink at all--but I've been really into Kombucha recently. It's hard to find outside of natural food stores, but it's awesome. If you haven't tried it, it's definitely a little bit off-putting at first because it's made from this fermented mushroom stuff and has live active cultures floating around inside that look like snot--and have the same consistency going down. Add to that the fact that it tastes like vinegar, and it's not hard to imagine why the stuff isn't flying off the shelves. So--Kombucha--it has all these things going against it--and yet--I love it. It tastes like booger-filled vinegar and makes you burp a lot, but once you've downed a bottle, you feel awesome. I always say I feel like I've just run a mile, but without all the sweat.

half way into my morning (sugar free) energy drink. palpitations have started already....no wonder my girlfriend yells at me. I try not to drink soda in general, especially not sugar soda.

Great stuff. Any rockstar drink has me bouncing off the walls but the sugar- and caffeine-free ones prevent the crash.

That sounds kind of...disgusting

I know... there's really no easy well to sell it to people, because it is DEFINITELY an acquired taste. But it leaves you feeling so good (if you drink it quickly enough, anyway) that you're willing to overlook the apparent nastiness.

Energy drinks just leave you feeling jittery and hyper. Kombucha (if it's any good) will leave you feeling alert, energized--almost euphoric. It's like a natural endorphin kick or something. It's less aggressive than that over-stimulated nervous feeling you get from energy drinks--and I love it. I wish I had one right now.

From Wikipedia:
Aside from any possible health benefits, many users report a subtle but definite perceptual shift after consuming kombucha. It is generally characterized by mild euphoria, relaxation, and an overall sense of physical and mental well-being. Kombucha contains trace amounts of alcohol and caffeine, unless made with decaffeinated tea. Alcohol amounts vary from 0.5% to 1.7% depending on brewing time and amounts of sugar used in the fermentation of the tea which may account for the experiencing of these effects by some consumers. The pH/acetate may increase blood flow to the brain. Another possible cause of these effects is the psychoactive amino acid L-theanine, which is naturally present in tea. Stimulation of the circulatory and immune systems, and associated glandular releases, may also account for some of these effects.

I'm going to have to try a can of this stuff...where'd you say they have it?

you had me sold on euphoric

You should be able to get it at a Whole Foods or maybe a Trader Joe's, or any other natural food store. (I get mine at a Co-Op grocery store, usually.) It's usually in the refrigerated section with other cold drinks.

I will say, it's usually better to just drink it as quickly as possible. It's not the type of thing you need to savor or anything--and the effect kicks in better if you drink a bunch--like a whole (12oz.) bottle--really quickly. (i.e. 5min or less.)

I had one last night, for the first time in months, and at first I was starting to think that it wasn't working. Just as I was thinking "WTF--nothing's happening," I started to feel it kick in. So you have to give it time, because it's not immediate.

P.S.--Kombucha's the name of the product, but the company that makes my favorite is called Synergy. It might be hard to spot, because a lot of the brands don't put "Kombucha" in big letters, so you might have to ask someone where it is/what to look for.

I'll give it a try then. I read something like it's tea fermented with some sort of mushroom...?

It'd be funny if they started drug testing for Kombucha

I thought it was a mushroom at first, because that's the common name for what they use, but I just found out that this "mushroom" is actually a colony of a bunch of different types of yeast and bacteria. They ferment the sugars that are added to the tea and make acetic acid (hence the vinegar taste) along with a host of other stuff. (There is like, .5% alcohol, apparently.)

It's pretty gnarly stuff, but I'm not the only person I know who has experienced its weird awesomeness. A guy I work with tried it, and he later said, "I really feel like dancing now. And I hate dancing."

Hmm..i wouldn't get too hooked on those energy drinks. Ppl at my school drink it like water..especially during exam time. One of them actually ended up in the hospital with an irregular heartbeat after drinking a few of those.

So..i've decided to just stick to coffee. 🙂

it depends on what your drinking really. I mean one-two a day are safe...but I wouldnt drink 5-6 energy dirnks in one hour....lol

low carb monster here!

NEVER on days when i go to the gym though...

not after the first time....i felt like i was going to have a heart attack after only 10 mins of cardio.

Yeah. Coffee (black)>>>>Red Bull or AMP or any of those other energy drinks, IMO.

maybe i'm a weirdo but i find that coffee affects me more than energy drinks do.

I drink Redline before I lift weights. Best thing ever invented.

It's a thermogenic though, so you might end up shaking if you don't do 100 push ups or something of the sort.

Half an 8 oz. bottle is all that's necessary for a good workout and a good 5 hours of studying.

*WARNING* Don't drink it if you are pregnant or sensitive to caffeine.

Sobe adrenalin rush works well for me..

Rockstars make me WAY to hyper.. I end up doing handstands and cartwheels while i'm studying..... and when i try to go to sleep my body starts shaking

and coffee either gives me gas.. or makes me constipated..

I got a sample for "Zipfizz" today. It is a soluble powder that you mix with water. I haven't tried it yet, partly because it has 41667 % DV of Vitamin B12. Is this even necessary (not to mention safe).

👍 Lo-Carb Monsters are amazing. I do drink them prior to weightlifting though, it seems to be just fine for me. I keep track of my heart rate and it appears to be alright.

Sobe Adrenalin rush chased with a can of starbucks doubleshot. I swear, I've never had anything else that worked like that!

I so miss ephedra though - I used to by an ephedra product called "Yellow jackets" they were amazing!

Any of the Monster energy drinks work well for me when I need to stay up late, etc. I drank one before the MCAT and did well, but did the worst on the first section (Physical Sci.) partly because I was super jumpy to begin with, and then the energy drink made me even more jittery.

this should be a poll

My personal favorite is arizona ice tea's "caution"

screw energy drinks, im ballin. i just snort a couple of lines of Colombian product and im good to go. hahahaha

anyone tried that cocaine drink? i heard it's supposed to be the strongest energy drink

i've heard some mixed reviews about it. apparently it tastes like shiit. not like i care, as long as i get hyped and punch holes into walls I'm fine. girls love energy drink aggression. hahaha

A monster a day here... plus coffee or maybe a red bull😀😀

Energy drinks are awesome. If I have one in the morning, I am set for the day!

XS - Lots of flavors, no sugar, no carbs, three kinds without caffeine. All the energy comes from B vitamins and amino acids.

Yerba mate. It's like tea (but it's a different plant- some kind of holly) but with more caffeine. Somewhere in between tea and coffee. It's 10 kinds of delicious, and you can drink it by the pot while you are studying. Just make sure not to get the smoked kind 👎.

Also, it apparently contains most of your DV of chromium?

not a big fan of those...they dont always work for me....😕

what about that 5 hour energy drink I see on tv??? that would be nice right now.

Although, they can give you something called a niacin flush. I took it before a 10 mile run (test it for a halfmarathon) and felt my upper body feel burning (and turned pretty pink- more so than from my normal exertion). I don't think it happens to very one, but I can imagine that it could detract from studying.
Although I have read the flush can be beneficial for your health.

I was not a fan, it was pretty gross. I also heard they were taking it off the market (most likely re packaging it). People were opposed to the message it could send to kids/teens.
