I am currently a sophomore in electrical engineering and am very interested in going to optometry school. I was wondering how the admissions committee at Optometry schools feel about engineering majors. Will they treat them the same as all other applicants? Or will they tend to like them more because they want more of a diverse applicant field?

Also, will the optometry admission commitee look more at my GPA in pre-opt classes (chem, o-chem, bio...) or will they consider my overall engineering GPA? My grades in engineering classes aren't too great, so I was just wondering about that.

Thanks.

adcoms realize what a rough major engineering is. they'll look at both your engineering and science classes. Be prepared to answer questions about why you're deciding to leave engineering at your interview.
