Hi,
I am a junior who is planing to apply for the upcoming cycle. I have only taken 1 English course in college, however, I have taken a couple of "writing intensive courses" plus a couple of history/American studies courses that have required a lot of writing. So I have two questions can I a.) use writing intensive as English courses and b.) could I still apply for the upcoming cycle without taking a second semester of English (ie without have finishing all my pre reqs)? I was planning on taking English over the summer or in the fall. Right now I am signed up for an English course but I would rather take phyisology as I think it would be more helpful for the spring mcat.
Thanks!

a) I would assume many schools would consider a writing intensive course to fulfill the English requirement, but as the standards do vary by school, it is always best to closely examine the requirements at any institutions you might be considering. Even so, you still have plenty of time to take an additional English course before you graduate if you want to be on the safe side.

b) You can apply without having completed all of the prerequisites; you must complete the required courses prior to matriculation. I am a nontrad in the current application cycle; I took one of my science prereqs last semester while going through the application process, and still have one more to go this upcoming semester. Even without having completed all of my science prereqs, I've had the good fortune of being offered five interviews, so I can say that in my personal experience, it is definitely possible to get your foot in the door without having completed all of the required coursework.

ok thanks a ton my schools pre med advising isnt the best...Congrats on those interviews!
