I just recently took the GRE and am planning on applying to MPH programs in epidemiology this fall. I got a V161 (87th percentile) and Q159 (75th percentile). I was really hoping to do better in the quantitative section but this is what I ended up with. Can anyone give some advice about if these scores are competitive for top epidemiology programs and how the GRE is used? Do Epi programs focus on the quant score? I have a solid GPA, work experience, and several publications. I just don't know if this GRE score is going to help, hurt, or not really affect my standing when applying to MPH programs and whether it would be worth taking again to increase by a couple points.

Take a look at the AAWR threads, paying attention to their GRE scores, concentration, and where they were accepted. This should give you an idea of where you stand GRE-wise.

What does AAWR stand for and how can I find it?

Sorry, the Fall 2016 Applied, Accepted, Wait-listed, Rejected thread. It's a long thread, but if you read the first 2-3 pages of it, it should give you a pretty good idea of what you should strive for. Be sure to read the signatures too.
