Does this mean that Howard and Syracuse are taking paper apps, or are not participating this year at all? I already paid for the ERAS apps to them a month ago.
Howard lost its accreditation during the last academic year.
Does this mean I just lost $50 on those 2 apps. or does ERAS refund us the money?

Yep, this is a recurrent theme each year. The ERAS profiles are sadly out of date. I personally blew ~$100 last year on wasted applications and I'm sure others were in the same boat. For you future applicants, I would pay attention to this board for programs that may have been closed permanently or ar not taking residents for the current app cycle. Then, to be on the safe side, call the program and verify this is true. It can save you a few extra $$$.
They have also not downloaded my app. Did they close their programs also? This is beginning to add up.
Sorry to be the continual bearer of bad news but Eastern Virginia folded as a program last year -- all of the existing residents were displaced. According to one of SimulD's posts, Pitt is not interviewing this year.
I have no idea about Louisville.
UCSF is most definitely taking 3 residents this year but they download applications LATE (usually ~ early Nov after ASTRO), give invities ~ Thanksgiving, and interview in Dec/Jan.
The Syracuse program is still open but won't be taking anyone this year.
