Estrogen

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
estrogen inhibits secretion of IL-1 by the osteoblasts. IL-1 along w/ RANK-L activates osteoclasts inducing bone resorption. but remember that RANK-L is more a/w PTH.

everyone is always talking about this RANK-L, where is it in first aid? I feel like i've gone through first aid 2 times already and haven't come across RANK-L.

It's in the PTH section. PTH activates RANK-L expression in osteoblasts which activate osteoclasts by RANK-receptor. it is actually one of the few things that I remember that they've talked about in my medical school 2nd year LOL

they also talked about this

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Late_LTP_mechanism.png LOL but then fail to talk about much more basic nevertheless more important stuff 😎
