need help with this question! 🙂

It is determined that an 8-year old child needs a tooth extraction, but the mother is paged and leaves the office before she can give approval for the treatment. The best course of action would be to:

1. Continue with treatment,
2. just take radiographs and give prophylaxis,
3. give the child dental sealants,
4. dismiss the patient and reschedule

Since it is an 8 yr old child[any age under 18-requires an adult for permission to proceed with treatment]
and the treatment is not for a life-threatening emergency,I think 😕the ans may be 4.dismiss the pt & reschedule.

Common sense questions I guess...
If that were my kid, I would want to know the tx plan before anything was done. If my decisions are harmful to my own kid, then the dentist can call up social services.
(btw.. i don't really have kids. so maybe a real parent would act diffrently)

I would dismiss.
