Yes I did. I did a Performance Specialist internship. What type of position did you apply for? Have you heard back about an interview yet?

Can you do a summer internship there? How was it? I need to do a summer internship for my degree and am interested in EXOS. I also hope it will help me get into the sports medicine field after graduation from pt school. Has it opened many doors for you? Thanks!

What position are you applying for? The Performance Specialist (Strength & Conditioning) internship is very competitive, especially during the summer. There are about 40-50 spots available per semester, and the summer is the most competitive. I believe last summer about 1500-2000 students applied for the limited spots. For the Performance Specialist internship, they really give priority to students in a graduate program for exercise science that can get the internship for credit due to the popularity of the internship. Also housing is not provided anymore. If you are applying for an athletic training internship, the story is a little different. It is still very competitive, but they put preference on students from schools that have already sent students to them and those that are in a graduate program.

After being in the internship, I decided that the best course of action would be to shadow as many physical therapists in as many different settings as possible. It has allowed me to do so, however I am not using what I learned there at the moment. I have applied to multiple strength coach positions but have turned down most of them because of the time demands and how it would conflict with outstanding prerequisite courses and shadowing for PT.

My best advice would be to have prior training and strength coaching experience before applying -- when I applied I already passed the CSCS, was a personal trainer at my school for 1.5 years, and was a volunteer strength coach at my school. In addition, it is easiest to get an internship for the fall semester as less people apply for the fall (about 900 compared to almost 2000).

I'm applying for their physical therapy clinical rotation at the moment, so I won't speak on that, but I can give some insight into the S&C world.

@jteitel10 already mentioned everything you need to know to maximizing your chances in this particular company. Prior experience is big time, not only on paper. When interviewing you can convey the idea that you are confident in that setting, and are familiar with it. S&C coaches are also interested in people who are willing to learn rather than set in their ways. There's a lot of different perspectives and programming in strength and conditioning. My advice is have stellar letter of recommendations, get the CSCS if possible, and volunteer or shadow S and C coaches in large volume sports. As far as getting a position, EXOS does a good job of already outlining the steps. Good luck, let us know how ti goes.

Side note, is this an internship at 1 of the 5 EXOS facilities? The other sites at corporate facilities are good and you can learn a lot about the fitness field, but the 5 main sites are a whole different beasts that are among the ranks of Cressey Performance and Sparta Science.

Yes I did my internship at their Florida location. How do you apply for their clinical rotation? I do not see anything like that on their job data base, and when I was there in the fall there were no DPT students on Clinical Rotations there, the closest thing was an AT student that was on internship.

It is up to your school to get a affiliation with them. In the past we've had students go to the LA and Texas sites. You can also call them and ask for the main PT that oversees clinical internships, and then talk to your clinical advisor about setting up an affiliation. That's how we got about for all the new sites we want that is not affiliated by the school.

Can anyone provide any information on housing for the DPT clinical? Are students selected required to figure out housing on their own?

Just completed a rotation in PHX. Housing is all on you to figure out .
