Just curious as I imagine with the holidays, and interview slots in the spring almost being full, if we should continue to refresh email inboxes every 5 minutes?

Or perhaps spend that time wrapping presents and sitting by the fire with hot cocoa instead? Perhaps drowning our sorrows of silent rejections with eggnog...

Depends on the schools you applied to, but spring interview slots are far from full at many schools. I got several II's in December-February. Don't expect anything during the break between x-mas and new years, as most admissions offices/schools are closed that week.

I think it's because my stats are low but I think my application has been put on the back burner 🙁 Haven't heard back from most MD schools. Do you guys think I still have a chance of getting an MD II later in the cycle?

Don't worry. You probably could get some interviews sometime soon. August-November II's are for top applicants, so for others, it will be in December-February as mentioned before. Relax, be confident, and good :luck:

This is nice to read and I certainly hope it is true!!!

With interviews being conducted right before Christmas and the days right after New Years, I think they're still processing people. But I still think you should just sit by the fire with hot cocoa.

I gave up refreshing my email several weeks ago.

4 of my 5 interview invites happened in Dec/Jan, I would suggest sending letters to those schools you are truly interested in soon.

I've heard that some schools don't mind letters pre interview, but others don't want to look at them. Is there any way to figure out which schools are ok with them? And how did you send it in, email or paper letter? Email would make more sense, but I don't know if a paper letter just looks better.

FWIW, I recently got an MD interview invite (after months of silence). I got 1 in mid-September and then nothing until this week. I was beginning to think that I wouldn't hear anything back from all those schools I had been complete at since August, because it had been so long.

If you've yet to hear back from a school, you probably aren't at the top of their list. But that doesn't mean you won't ever hear back.

Either way, there's very little chance that sending in a letter of interest will hurt you. I reached out to a bunch of schools and had very good luck in regards to responses.

E-mail is fine, no reason to delay a letter through the postal service.

Well I hope that I have the same outcome as you this year. I appreciate schools that send out rejection letters so that I have closure and can move on.

I've only been complete at schools since October and I hope my MCAT score gets my app looked at. This process has driven me insane, and my late application hasn't helped.

There you go OP. a success story :goodluck:

+1 ... But I guess the truth hurts 🙁

My heart. You're breaking it.

Don't worry. You'll get interviews somewhere, as long as you haven't applied top-heavy or have really low stats. This is why applying broadly helps a lot. Just be patient. :luck:

Also, I'm not giving false hope. This is pretty realistic, since many people (especially darkjedi etc.) do get interviews at this time. Just ignore the cynics and move forward.

but ... but ... darkjedi got 37 on his MCAT 😱

And darkjedi's in a top 20 school. unless you're aiming for a top 20, you really shouldn't worry. As long as you have a good GPA (3.5+), good MCAT (30+), and reasonable amount of EC's (research, clinical, non-clinical, shadowing), you're good to go.

Ahh cinamin, that's where i remember you from. You flipped out on the mcat forum the first time you took it because EK didn't prepare you as well, :meanie:. I hope everything is going better for you now. But yeah as everyone said, interviews are still going out. But that's as much as anyone can tell you. I know you'd like to hear good news, but just try to keep yourself busy. Just try and let things happens as they do. If you butter yourself up or stroke your ego too hard, then each time you refresh that inbox and it's empty, it will hurt that much harder! Good luck bro or chica (cinamin?) :xf:
